Inter or Cluj if we go through Couldn't make it up, we're going to have to earn it if we're going to win this thing!
I wanted a French team so I'm happy, not too far to travel and they're definitely beatable. As for Inter Milan, been there done that got the t-shirt.
All the English teams got have got tough opponents imo. Nothing easy there at all, but Hugo should have all the inside info we need. Being at home first is always a bummer, and I've just noticed PSG, Lyon, and Marseille (avec Joey Barton) are all joint top on points in there league.
Lyon are a quality side, should be a great tie. It annoyed me a little at first getting such a difficult tie but I can't wait for the game already, should be much better than playing some European minnows that no one cares about.
The return of the STEED! Interesting. Bale will be looking forward to a return to the San Siro, if we can make it past Lyon, too. Big games. I see Liverpool face their fellow racists. HIAG will be made up with that one.
Tbh YV I don't think we're 'up' for games v minnows, look at the group games, the last couple of years, its almost been a chore! I think we do better against better teams so I'm not looking for the easy route, and am quite happy with that. Also, if we go out to decent team thats fine, I hate going out to minnows who play the game of their life, with all the luck and all the decisions.
All of that very true. I've got the same buzz for this game that I had when we drew Sevilla, couldn't wait to play them it's the excitement you should have when you're in a European tournament. As much as I agreed with 'Arry at the time, his picking mostly fringe and youth players made me forget about the appeal of the prestigious trophy. If anyone isn't as excited for the game as I am I suggest they watch this: Superb atmosphere, you don't get supporters singing their player's name after they miss a penalty these days.
This is where we find out how serious the players are taking the competition, no more excuses about tired legs from too many games and as notso mentions, we don't get up for games agaisnt minnows, so i'm glad we didn't get them small timers inter milan Can't say I know much about lyons current team, style of play, does anyone watch french football?
Im absolutely over the moon with the draw/s. We're more than capable of beating Lyon if we're at full strength. France isn't far to travel and I'm quietly confident. Not only that, but it's a really good cup tie where we should see 2 really good games of football. Inter or Cluj - bloody fantastic. I hope it's inter, just so it's another cracker like we witnessed a couple of seasons ago. Bale must be creaming! They aren't what they used to be and we're a team that are progressing. very optimistic and excited for these encounters. I actually think we have a good chance of winning it. Chelsea will be the toughest game, should we get drawn against them. - That's the only one I'm dreading.
roo, it be tough to win as we wont get away with our jerkly and hyde show over two legs, especially if we face a team like Athletico Madrid in the later stages or napoli with cavani but looking at the draw it has some big clubs so whoever wins this year can be.proud rather then thinking its second rate.
I also like the draw: it looks like nothing but big matches the rest of the way. Something to look forward to, and since I think fourth may depend on an early-ish exit to the Europa, no worries for me about losing either.
Lyon is definitely one of the "ouch" teams to have drawn, but its win-win IMHO IF we can get past them, it will galvanise the squad into believing that we can achieve something as a team if we don't, then we can concentrate on the league and going for the CL place
o god yeah, the competition is tough mate. But we're as good as any on our day. To think Lazio are in the seeded group... they were poor... and we had 4 goals disallowed. Like I say, chelsea would be my biggest fear. I think AVB will be far more astute with his tactics and will know how to beat the other european sides, having already won it before. COYS!!
