Well.....there have been plenty of rumours, and this is the first proper article I have seen on it - ok MSN - but still! http://news.uk.msn.com/blog/trending-blogpost.aspx?post=aa1cb6cc-beaa-4dbc-9cbe-dbaa55fcbe8b&_nwpt=1
There aren't plenty of rumors, only one. It's the same rumor doing the rounds. Same story everywhere. Only 8-11, so certainly not a done deal by any means. But looking good.
Hope he comes but lets not forget why Barca wants him to go out on loan shall we, He has been poor since he returned after breaking his leg and barca don't want to play him they want another club in a good league to play him to try and get him back to what he was, so lets not get carried away on his repetition before he broke his leg and see if he can get back to the player he once was,,not every player can so its a good move by barca getting another club to take the risk rather than them...I hope he does well but we wont know that until he plays or if he plays....
What's the risk Dai? There's no way in the world we'll be paying his full wages, he hasn't played much since coming back from breaking his leg, so his form is a non entity at the moment and it's why Barcelona benefit from loaning him out. Any club in the premier league would jump at the chance to take him on loan, so let's hope it's us who pulls off what will be a hell of a coup. Maybe he's not 100% match fit, but he could show any one we've got where the back of the net is...or anyone we'd be likely to get for that matter. No risk as far as I'm concerned. It will be a hell of a signing, and another boost of shirt sales as well as the start of a beautiful friendship with Barcelona
come on now...we are Swansea city not chelsea or man utd and like barca said he has been poor since his come back. We are in a sense being used by barca as they would rather him play rubbish for us than take the risk themselves. Im hoping he can show some of the talent he has with us but he may not after a badly broken leg, Barca are not stupid they know we play good football (sometimes) but are not a top team. I hope if he comes that it wont be detrimental to our season because if he comes he wont be coming to sit on the bench that's for sure, So all im saying is don't get carried away and lets see why barca wont play him even in their reserves first. Im sure he will be fine but im not going to build him up only to find he is a flop until i see what he is like after a bad injury.
You're right of course, Dai. The last thing we want to do is for some foreigner to come in and upset the apple cart. Think what it would do to Danny Graham's confidence to see an old crock from Spain come in and hit 15 goals in 3 months. Danny would never be the same again.
well it would be great if he can get us 15 goals but why send him out on loan? I would rather see what he can do first because it will be you and fans like you that will be disappointed if he is a flop.....Ill wait and see what he is like first before i make a judgement. Remember what happened at wigan when they got jase the ace. they thought he would get them a shed full of goals and look what happened to him....
Whilst it is a nice rumour, we should keep our feet on the ground and not get too excited until this is actually confirmed to be signed. DaiSwan, a 70% Villa is not a bad acquisition.
dai you mention that Barca won't play him in their reserves. The simple answer to that is he can't. Barca B are in a lower league of the spanish pyramid and players registered for the first team can't play for the reserves (or B team if you prefer). also he doesn't qualify for their under 20-s for obvious reasons. They don't want to help him build his fitness by loaning him to a rival in la liga and they have a strong relationship with the ViKing. Makes sense to me and I would take him in a heart beat as even a 50% fit Villa is waaaay better than Itay, Moore or DG. Fingers are very firmly crossed here.
Additionally they don't want to loan him to a Champions League rival, and no Champions League rival will want to either pay those wages or a loan fee only to be barred from using him in such an important and lucrative tournament.
For the record: David Villa has been involved in 11 of 16 Primera Division-games this season with five goals to his name. He had played a total of 438 minutes (aprox. five hole matches). I don't think he's been that poor...
If anybody hasn't read this article. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/blog/_/name/swanseacity/id/499?cc=5739 Don't worry it's not a rickroll.
No poor ,should have doubled that amount at least , I mean look who we've got instead and they're really knocking the goals in
Why not send him out on loan? He's just come back from injury and can't get in the side because his competition for his place is arguably the best player in the world. Sending him out on loan to a team where he's guaranteed game time puts him in the shop window for a permanent move in the summer. I don't mind Barcelona using us as their advertising agent
Well done. Comparing Jason Scotland with David Villa... Fantastic. You can compare Scotland with the likes of Danny Graham, but David Villa? IF we should be so lucky to get Villa, we can't expect him to be the league top scorer, but there is no doubt that he has qualities we need. Besides, even if he doesn't score a single goal I wouldn't consider him a flop. Think about the mediacoverage and the attention Swansea would get. Think about how much more attractive Swansea City would become to other players!!
That's not true. Villa is not in particular poor form. He's simply not a part of vilanovas plans. He prefers Alexis, Tello and messi up front. 11 games - 5 goals - 1 assist - 9 shots That's not poor form.
Villa is absolute class, way above anybody we have imported into the Swans. However, IF, IF, he does come, let's all not sit back and expect the guy to start knocking in hat tricks galore. Like anyone else who has never played in the Premier League, he will have to learn about the pace and physicality of it. He will also have to learn to play with a team of strangers in an environment he has never experienced before. The truth is, by the time he starts to show his true ability and class, it will be time for him to go back to Barca, which is what they want, of course. We can only hope that his presence will earn us a few points when we need them and that our present strikers learn a lot from him about the art of goal scoring. I am delighted at the prospect of him playing for us. That very act will raise our profile out of sight in the football world and will all be down to the legend that is Michael Laudrup. Let's hope that all these rumours are translated into hard fact. It will be a red letter day if they are.
Like I've said before on Norway's thread on this subject, I've had it on very good authority that we are in talks with Villa, but at the end of the day, we'll just have to wait until Christmas and see what Santa brings! Dia is not the only one with connections to the club!! some of us have connections with players too, and just too prove a point, keep an eye on Leon?? here's the hint and clue! 'everything comes in two's', so sit on that you Jack Barstewards!....................... There was also a hint from me about 4 weeks ago, stating that, 'I doubt we'll see much of Graham in the starting line up'?? Why would I say that?.......... please log in to view this image
