Poster? I've got a bloody tattoo of him with a heart round it, was even considering changing my name to Spurs or Sex with Eriksen? <laugh>

He really is a cracking player though mate, far beyond what his age would suggest.

very true HBIC, lets hope so!
I think even the tabloids can't be arsed to write a story about Hulk to us. - the price tag would be enormous. The tabloids have very little credibility as it is, that would just be the nail in their coffin!

you'll have to speak to SOS about that. He's the senior scout and all responsibility lies with him! <laugh>

I have trouble believing we'll get either Moutinho or Eirikson, though if given a choice, I'd take the former in a second. I also wonder about putting a 20 year old in such a key position this year--not that I wouldn't love to have him anyway. More realistic, maybe, is a dangerous player who can play on either wing. I thought I could hear Willian's fro calling out to join its brothers on Spurs--though that's probably too much to hope for as well. Maybe just a good right winger, given Lennon's history of injury. Any kind of half decent right back would be a plus. Walker never gets a break.

I actually think we need our players to stay healthy more than we need new additions. Most would say the weakness has been at CM, but I like playing Adebayor there. Dempsey's been looking better (other than the Swansea game). And I still think we may be pleasantly surprised if we ever give Gylfi a start.

    :D

I think I really need to have a word with AVB about becoming a scout for him. Must be an amazing job, you get to travel (which is something I'd love to do in the near future) AND watch football matches... It's the next best thing to actually being a footballer!

Think too many are discrediting his age, his ability is already head and shoulders above what we have in the CAM position and so I only see his age as a major plus point, he's got shed loads of time to improve on. The likes of Caulker, Bale, Walker & Lennon, have all been involved in our first team as 19/20 year olds (well Walker was with Villa I think when 20) and they're blossoming from it. I think Eriksen can do the same.

I'm talking as if we've actually signed him now <laugh>

In all seriousness it is possible to become a scout for the club. For instance if you were to see a talented kid playing in a game down your local park and reccommend the kid to Spurs, then this 'should' be followed up. It may take yonks for this follow up to work its way through the system, but it still should be followed up, either by sending a current scout to watch him and/or inviting the player to one of our football schools which take place in school holidays.

We do have a scout who had suggested we take a look at a couple of young lads in his area, and although we didn't consider them to be what we needed at that moment in time, the guy had clearly shown an eye for spotting a decent talent and we gave him a trial which he came through and he now works for us in the Bedfordshire region.

    <ok>.

the joke of it, is that we actually do this. we sit and watch games from our homes, identifying who we'd love to see at the club.

just imagine being able to bugger off to South America as and when, to watch the games live and actually play a role (for real) in who the club should be signing!!

    A dream Job.

You're getting my hopes up now Spurcat! I can just see it, me handing a list to AVB in the near future and bang, we've got ourselves a wonderkid shortly afterwards :D

Thanks for the info though mate, it's nice to know the club do listen to the views and opinions of the public and allow them to try and help the club search for talent. <ok>

It really is mate, I'd love to be able to contribute to Spurs (excluding the tickets/ merchandise I buy), imagine the feeling of what it'd be like seeing a kid you scouted go on to make it at Spurs... Must be amazing if you have a real passion for the sport and the club.

A link from Newsnow from an Aussie outlet reminded me of our interest and trial of Matt Ryan, 20-year-old goalkeeper with the Central Coast Mariners.
He's out of contract at the end of the season and he's picking up caps for his national side, so I wonder we might go back in for him?

Hull were looking to bring him in a while ago but opted to take Stockdale on loan from Fulham instead. With Fulham recalling Stockdale yesterday ahead of schedule, possibly Hull will move for him again.

Stockdale's loan had just been extended, too. I assume that there's either a problem with Schwarzer or Jol's not been impressed with his recent form, somewhat understandably.
I'd have thought that Hull would want a more experienced head to go straight into their side to be honest, but it depends on how highly they rate Ryan, I guess.
Can't we lend them Gomes? He's doing nothing at WHL right now and it might help his confidence.

SC, do you have a scout for the scotland region? I'm armed with a flask, HD camera for filming the next star and sending a youtube video (of the players best highlights) and surely I'll be offered a role when I find the next Dave Mackay?

a couple of reports from today:

St Etienne striker Pierre Aubemeyang would rule out amove to us, due to the way we approached it in June. something to do with agents and his father, which the player himself didn't like. - ah well Pierre, barely anyone's heard of you anyway.

Reading could be taking Huddlestone. accoring to a report, some sources on twitter have claimed that an offer has been accepted, but it's not known how valid these sources are.

then this from Sky sports about Eriksen, again.
    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11679/8345037?

Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen has brushed aside suggestions he could be on the move in January, but has admitted playing in the Premier League is a long-term goal.

The Denmark international has emerged as one of Europe's most coveted players following a series of impressive displays for club and country, with a number of teams monitoring his performances.

But the talented 20-year-old, who has already made 136 first-team appearances for Ajax, is in no hurry to turn his back on the Eredivisie side and is more interested in regular action, rather than the financial rewards which may be on offer elsewhere.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been linked in the past, but any suitors are likely to need to demonstrate patience in their pursuit of the level-headed youngster.

When asked if he was likely to be on the move in January, Eriksen told the Guardian: "I don't think so. If something really exciting is coming, maybe you would look at it. But my feeling now is take it easy and see when it comes.

"Money has never been a motivation. I have chosen football before that every time and I still do that. I'm addicted to football. When I get outside, I just want to stay on the training pitch."
    ars.

"I'm going to see what opportunities there are but I'm still happy here and I don't have any thoughts that I have to leave.

"Money has never been a motivation. I have chosen football before that every time and I still do that. I'm addicted to football. When I get outside, I just want to stay on the training pitch."

Eriksen had two trials with Chelsea when aged 14 and 15, but has no regrets over the fact that the European champions did not offer him a contract at Stamford Bridge.

He added: "Chelsea is such a big club, they have so much money that if they need someone for the first team, they just buy them. Ajax buy them if they are young and they see talent. And it's easier to go to the first-team here and that was also what I saw.

"At Chelsea it was like, Under-17 own world, Under-19 own world and then the first team another world. For a [young] player it was difficult to see how there could be a possibility."

Eriksen also snubbed interest from Manchester City 18 months ago, with his desire to play regularly the main driving force behind his decision.

"Again, it was the feeling to get to a big club where they buy some new players every six months," he said.

"Then, probably, if you didn't do well in the beginning, you would go out on loan. I wouldn't like that. For me, it was just about wanting to play. At that point I was just 19 years old, so I had no hurry."

addicted to football and doesn't care about money? this guy sounds like a dream signing. please santa!!!

From what Eales said earlier, doubt there will be much movement on the Spurs inbound front, more likely a bit of deadwood shifting (Sorry Gomes, but I am squarely looking at ya!)

With Scotty P, Benny and Younes on the comeback trail, apart from a TOP GOALSCORER which we've wanted for years and still hasn't come to Levy's budget attention, there's no-one else we 'need' is there??????? Well thats how the hierachy seem to view it it appears.
