Purchased? Leeds have spent millions on players and took the club to the brink with ill management and a **** manager. I think you should think on a little before making rash statements laddie.
I fully accept all criticism of the overspending of the Ridsdale era, but we have never purchased success unlike Chelsea FC. Anyway I'm back home with my head held high, because I know in my heart of hearts that very few other clubs would have stayed until the end and sung their hearts out like Leeds did. If we'd been winning 5-1 at Stamford Bridge, the click of the tourists' cameras would have been the only noise audible. Well, that's probably true of when you're winning there as well. Distinctly average away support for all Chelsea fans had bigged it up to be 'biggest game since Munich' and so on. Crap repertoire, predictable Savile and Glitter songs, poor coordination with flares, ****. Lots of love, a northerner.
L**ds indeed one of the leaders when it came to buying a squad. Done on the never never too promising to pay it all back when the money from all the victories came rolling in. Except money and an extremely talented squad doesn't win games all by themselves. There is the small matters of hard work, commitment, focus, discipline and tactics. When L**ds tried it all of those were missing taking the club down to what I still like to think of as the third division, which is uncharted territory for Chelsea in over a hundred years, but then again we have no history.
I've just got home. Our away support was class. Outsung you from start to finish and only heard you sing when you scored up until half time. We chanted throughout, some top chants, flares, gave Elland Road some decoration by ripping seats out etc... Don't be bitter as you lost 5-1 to your big rivals. Only heard a couple of Istanbul chants but not very loud...
To be honest for a 2nd string club I thought you put a decent shift in but superior talent obviously won in the end.
