Decent effort by the lads in fairness but when you consider Torres cost almost as much as our entire club, the Chelsea result is no surprise. The gulf between top half dozen premiership teams and us is enormous. Not surprising when you consider bates has spent nearly a decade either givin away or selling anything on two legs at the club. It could well take as long to get us back to the top six

Leeds will never ever be a top 6 side unless they get an extremely rich owner - and why on earth would he chose Leeds when there are over a dozen clubs in a more attractive situation?

We're an attractive proposition all right. But you already know that TC. Whereas you're lot will never have to worry, won't ever be any bigger than they are now

Come off it Eire mate - you don't own a ground or training facility and your crowds have halved in size in 8 years - would take mega-bucks to get you up there and be able to compete with the likes of Stoke and Wigan - as I said, there are dozens of clubs that would be a more attractive proposition than Leeds right now - us being one of them <ok>

Alright Eire, good to see a fellow Irishman on here!

I thought you played well tonight lads, particularly in the first half. It was never a 5-1 game. That equalizer just after half time knocked the stuffing out of yis.

Will you make the Playoffs this season?

(P.S. Is that head-banger Jerel Ifil still knocking about?)

Eireleeds is right, look at the change in fortunes of the two clubs. Ten years ago, level pegging, chasing titles but not quite getting them. Since then - Chelsea have got the cash injection to enable them to buy trophies, we have been shafted by crooks in the boardroom and our club is a second-division husk.

Far too early to say whether we'll make the playoffs; you know what the Championship's like, we could end up anywhere between second and 22nd and it wouldn't surprise me unduly! The big pivot it all hangs on is the takeover. Does Bates hand the club over this Friday? Do GFH show some serious clout and leadership and ambition, or do they stagnate and let that old Chelsea cancer have his way and watch us rot? Suppose all a man can do until that point is chill over the Christmas break, sit on the sofa, crack out some Baileys and hammer away at his keyboard on an internet discussion board such as this one.

In summary: get the Chelsea out of Leeds. :)

Morning all. Stoke as a side to emulate I'll give you. They've progressed slowly in the last couple of years, but are now established as a PL club with a vociferous support. Wigan on the other hand have massively over achieved. When they do finally go down, they will plummet. All their cheap foreign imports who play in front of pathetic little crowds, even when the big boys come to town, will disappear. Crowds will get even smaller. & they'll struggle to survive beyond L1 to midtable Championship.

If/when we go up, the first task will be to re-establish ourselves back in the PL. So first season target is 17th or better. After that, it'll be a case of one or two new faces each season to help push us up the table, whilst intigrating the best of our Academy into the squad, as was the case during the "Living the Dream" era. Only problem was, we were so badly managed that we couldn't afford to keep some 17 year old because of wage increases built into his contract. Now look at him, Arron Lennon. What's he worth now? A darn sight more than Spurs paid for him.

Heyho, we move on the Saturday & hopefully back to winning ways against 'Boro.

Name them and the reasons they "would be a more attractive proposition than Leeds right now."

Not as impossible as you make out mate. For God's sake, you're only 5 points adrift AND you've got a game in hand which could cut it to 2. Are things bad off the pitch to make you so defeatist? Anything's possible mate and as long as you stay floating in and around where you are, there's no reason why you can't sneak in there.

And of course if you do get in there, there's a chance you could go all the way. Keep the faith lads. <ok>
