i like Lucas don't get me wrong, but it could also be argued that our standards have been dropping for years that we now highly rate players like Lucas, where as before not many if none at all would have had him before Didi,Mascherano or Alonso or even Gerrard in the same position would they?
I would. Lucas is world class. He has the defensive strength, determination, grit, tackling skills etc of players like Mascerano. But he is cleaning than Mascerano and fouls less. He also has a great short and medium passing range, with the vision to pick out the right pass. His positioning is great to. So he is always in the right place. This, combined with the rest, gives the others players the freedom to express themselves.
This, before he was injured, everytime I was at Anfield he completely dominates the game and destroys any build up play. Wins pretty much every challenge, plays smart.
Maybe it could be worth us making an offer. Some one who could cover Lucas. Doubt owners would like the fact that he is 27 though.
