I think appearances can be deceptive. When you go to some of the towns and cities, they can look quite grandiose, but Southampton can look quite plain and townish, even though it is a city, with one of the greatest ports in the World, as its heart. My ex-wife said, on first seeing Southampton, she was amazed at the amount of green parks and certainly the trees [she was born in Christchurch, NZ, which is about as park-like as you get in NZ], but she thought the architecture was really boring. I would mention the great town planner, Adolf Hitler, but the point never went home really. I know what she meant. Southampton rushed to build in the immediate post-war, and in the 1960's, some awful concrete structures went up, and so the old beauty of the place, which probably all of us have never seen, except in photographs or paintings. is omitted from our opinions. In recent years, town planners have done as much damage, in terms of the mediocrity of their plans, as Hitler did with his bombs, that Southampton has its gems extremely well hidden from view.. A classic example [but one of many] is how on Earth the Boat Train line, which still runs into the Old Docks, right past St Marys, lies forlorn and forgotten, yet still operational..? Why isn't it cleaned and pressed, with a Pullman Express running into it at every opportunity, when the boats come in..? Lack of imagination, which I would accuse Southampton City planners of, every time. Yes, it isn't their direct fault, but why aren't they getting together with Associated British Ports, Cunard/P&O, South West Trains, and getting something off the ground..? The infrastructure is there. All that is required is the idea.
i never go up to "famous" people in normal situations, i think its rude. he's just trying to do his shopping in peace! i had a good look at his arse though
the ladies in tesco told me that tadanari lee once went in there and spent £30 on ferrero rocher's. the man's got good taste i've seen jos round here too and jonathan forte.
Celebs are just people end of the day, just they have a fair bit more money then us. Chatted to a few celebs in my time and some fake titted girl that couldn't make her mind up if her name was Jordan or Katie .
Guly makes out he can't talk english if you try speaking to him and Jos is sound, see a few Saints players where I live.
Spoke to Jack Cork, Rickie & Kelvin outside Anfield after the game up there the other day and they were really great to talk to - in fact it was Jack Cork who came over and spoke to me and my son as we were waiting on friends and he was waiting on his family. Some Liverpool fans standing there were amazed as they reckoned their players dont give their supporters the time of day.
Yeah I had a pint with Rickie when we got promoted!(well brought him a pint anyways aha), Morgan is always willing to talk. Don't know if he lives in Ocean Village anymore tho, I always see Jos about and have see De Ridder, Guly is always in the Tesco shop buying booze or cigs .
My brother and his mates saw Steve De Ridder in a chip shop or something, and my brother's mate shouted "Steeeeeeve!" and he turned around and said "Yes?"
I saw Iwan Thomas at Turtle Bay after the Spurs game. Asked him what he thought of the game and he did answer but looked as though he wasn't that relaxed about talking to random drunk strangers really. Can't blame him. Met WGS in a restaurant a while ago and he was as cool as ... but he would be wouldn't he. I'd like to see the Morgster (?) Jen and I agree he's a handsome sonofabitch. But I wouldn't look at his arse.
If you see Norgan again, speak to him in French. I did and it made him want to have a conversation. He really appreciated someone making the effort to converse in his language.
You mean you never had to learn to conjugate them? I can recall all my French grammar exercises as if it was yesterday. We studied French as an academic subject with very little speaking. I’m still pretty crap at it. What I find strange is that the very lovely Mrs Godders speaks excellent French but when we are in France insists that I do all the talking and then afterwards picks what I have said to pieces and tells me of my mistakes and what I should correctly have said.
They tried to teach me verbs, but I have forgotten them. I have an interest in words and their origins and I put my ability to remember nouns down to that. I think foreign languages should be taught in a conversational manner at schools...after all, most people will not want to study it to a higher level at University, but will want to book rooms, order food and be polite whilst abroad.
