Right in front of that corner, but yes I suppose I can't be certain he wasn't actually hurt but it was just his body language. It wasn't like the Bruce one where he was obviously aggrieved about a challenge, he just had a little sit down and then seconds later was fine. If it was someone like Evans who'd stopped there I'd think straight away he must be hurt but because it's Meyler I just think it's him messing about. A few of us pointed out after his first home games that he was going down an awful lot and it's just one of the irritating things about his game. Don't get me wrong I don't dislike the guy, he still offers us a lot and he's earned the two goals in the last two games by making the right runs which our other midfielders don't.
As I've pointed out before, Meyler "goes down a lot" because he has a high centre of gravity, and plays in a position where he is required to twist and turn quickly. It is highly unusual to have a tall midfielder that puts as much into his game as Meyler. I sit in the West end of the South Stand about 10 rows back. When Meyler got injured he caught a finger in the eye. Ever been poked in the eye? Doesn't stop you from moving but if you cannot see, you cannot see, plus it is very painful. He wasn't messing about.
Steve Bruce said after the Watford game that Hull city have agreed a deal with Sunderland for the full transfer of Elmo in the summer subject to us being a PL team. I would guess that means that Sunderland dont want him back. Sunderlands financies are a bit of a mess and today its been reported in the tabloids thats the next payment of PL tv cash will go straight to the bank and not for MON to enter the transfer market. Looks like the mackems will have to sell before they buy or even loan ? January is gonna be a fun.
Utterly comical. Our finances are absolutely fine. We just signed a record breaking sponsorship deal with Invest In Africa (the third highest in the league behind the Manchester clubs) and a record breaking deal with Adidas for our kit manufacturing rights. We weren't in trouble before those deals either which makes me think you're chatting utter ****e. It's been stated that O'Neill will have a transfer kitty to spend as well. Check your facts. Aside from that I hope you lads keep Meyler and Elmo, both decent players but for whatever reason it didn't work out here. If they help you get back up they could be pivotal in keeping you up. All the best for the season ahead.
Slow down man. Its only whats been reported in the national press. I never said it was 100% accurate. What is true though is that Sunderland need much more than David Meyler in January if they are to pull clear of the bottom 3. Good Luck anyway.
It looks like we are going to lose Meyler... "I'm thinking about recalling David Meyler for our Christmas programme," O'Neill said. "In fact, that looks like being a certainty. I've spoken to Steve Bruce about it and he understands the situation. He knows we're having a look at it and he appreciates the position."
"That's a few days old, from before Huddersfield I think." Yes that was definitely before the Uddersfield game
Brucey said he hoped to still have Meyler for the derby game, looks quite good at the moment since you'd expect it to have happened by now if it was going to.
If we havent heard anything tomorrow, I dont think it will happen this week. It cant be good for Meyler either, I know I would like to know where I will be living next week!!
Yes. This all old news now. I think MON and Steve Bruce have said that nothing has yet been decided on Meyler and as long as Adam Johnson, Larsson and Rose are fit MON said nothing changes. I suggest that a 24/48 hr recall clause is in place already. I expect Meyler to be available for Derby on friday as nothing seams to have happened yet. Fingers crossed.
More importantly we appear to be playing Derby away just at the right time. They have some key players out or are major doubts for fridays game. That wonder kid(forget his name), Bryson and Salmon are big doubts already.
If Hughes (wonderkid) is out that's great for us! I hope Sammon is fit though as despite his scoring form recently he really is average!
I dont hold sway with this argument, it gives the reserves a chance and they're always chomping at the bit. Wasnt the same said last season before the trip to Bellend Road?
You do realise that with emergency loans there's no such thing? It's a standard part of the loan laid out in the rules that after 28 days the loan can be cancelled by either party with 24 hours notice. There's no insertion of clauses or agreements reached about it, that's how they all are.
