Completely agree with that point and it's why I wanted FSG to bring in a big name manager or at least big name Sporting Director as we will need that 'pull' to attract the better players.
Liverpool agree terms with Blackpool and Chelsea for Tom Ince & Daniel Sturridge - The Times Tony Barrett on The Times reports Liverpool have agreed terms with clubs of Thomas Ince and Daniel Sturridge. Both players are expected to sign for Liverpool early in the January transfer window as Rodgers wants his players as fast as possible. Two deals will cost Liverpool around £18m. And there is expected that Sturridge will have a wage of £60k per week. Tom Ince is expected to be on £25k per week. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to add another attacking player on loan.
Anyone on here think there's potential for a Demba Ba - Andy Carroll swap at the end of the year? He doesn't want to stay with us, Andy isn't wanted by Liverpool, I think a swap would be a good thing. You'd have much better depth in attacking options (if Sturridge and Ince join you), so when you get in the Champs League (Just joking, Europa ) you'll be able to rotate quite well? I think Rodgers will want more than a couple of strikers in the long run. Now, of course, the first person to respond to this will go "yeah, but we will want £X million as well"... No. Just no. Demba is a much better striker at this moment in time, and better strikers are what Liverpool want. Therefore it's in Liverpool's interest for a straight swap and getting Carroll out. Carroll is a player we need, because he's not as much of a moaning bitch and we could afford his wages, being a local boy. You have something we want, we have something you want...Forget any malice because we ripped you off first time, is there a deal to be done here?
personally i would say yes, but then someone will point out that BA is injury prone, even though i think (correct me if wrong) he has been injury free for a while. wouldn't say Andy is poor, just not the type of player our new manager wants, Andy was a good player before he left you, so maybe you was playing the right system or to his strengths and we wasn't. i know this has been covered a billion times, but it still baffles me why we let Kenny and co spend all that money and not give them time to see how the players adapt. Kenny we all knew was a short term to stabilise the club, but jesus christ why let a manager go who got a team to 2 cup finals and spent £100 million odd then hide behind the looking to the future crap or didn't make top 4.
No we weren't we were in both cups and by January we were 3 points off of 4th. I would take Ba but sure enough that we are saying we are abot to get Sturridge and Ince, reports are coming out that David Villa is looking to re-ignite his career with Laudrup at Swansea.
Think Sturridge has overpriced written all over him if he's bought for anything over £8m, takes him about 8 shots to score a goal. As for Ince, if he can do as well in the prem as he does in the championship then he'll be a good signing. Not all players can step up to the plate though.
Were you? I thought you were languishing near the bottom needing a win? Villa to Swansea... Talksport must be the source
I think Ince could be a really good long term signing. For now, improved squad depth. Iff he settles into the PL fast, he can be a good goal getter.
Lot of good points here, agree with Ze re Assadi, massively agree with Jenners re the type of player we can attract. We have nobody to get off our books who will generate much in fees and we surely will not have masses to spend, esp with BR's comments on Monday. I reckon we could attract Huntelaar, him and Suarez worked well together at Ajax. We could go for someone like Bellhanda (sp), he looks dangerous and would fit the system well. Obviously I would say id rather have someone than nobody but to be honest, would you rather have signed nobody in Jan 2011 and someone in the summer than have got Carrol? I ****ing would. I'm all for buying the right person at the right price, but I think we have better than Sturridge in Morgan and Yesil. I can't see why spending 18 m on these two is the right thing to do. If BR knows different and we can make more signings then great, but after selling Bellers, Maxi and Dirk before letting AC go out on loan and replacing them with **** all I have little faith in those making our transfer decisions.
