''Hull City A.F.C. On loan goalkeeper David Stockdale has been recalled by parent club Fulham. Stockdale has made five appearances for the Tigers after joining on a temporary basis last month and the club would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him well for the future.'' It came right out of the blue, especially after Jol's comments. Wouldn't mind us keeping him, he's been great for us. We've got three hard games over Christmas so could have done with him staying with us. Any idea why this has come about?
Schwarzer has made some uncharacteristic errors recently, but Jol has seemed supportive of him up to now. I've not heard of any injuries. Thanks for the heads up.
The Club have just confirmed his recall in a short statement. No reason is given and he starts training with the main squad tomorrow. One has to assume that there is a problem with Schwarzer given it was only two days ago ago that Stockdale's loan was extended. Possibly something happened in training today because Schwartz was fine last night, enjoying the Christmas fayre at the Cottage. Here's the Club statement - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/december/19/stockdale-recalled
What's wrong with Csaba Somogyi sitting on the bench instead of Stockdale? This is a kick in the nuts but I think we will see him back as No. 1 when january comes around.
A fair question Tommy. We've been asking, why is he even on the bench ? Apparently Etheridge is indeed the one injured - he's had an MRI scan and is expected to be out for "a few weeks".
Poor Stockdale. Finally enjoying a run in the first team for Hull and enjoying his football and Jol recalls him to sit on the bench for the rest of the season.
Surely when Etheridge comes back the loan window will have closed? Either way, it must be very frustrating for Stockdale being shipped out temporarily all the time.
Etheridge will be back in January I think, so something can be arranged then? I agree it must be a pain in the arse for him, but Jol undoubtedly hasn't done it just because he doesn't want Stocky to play, it's to protect us from an injury to Schwarzer. It's unlikely, but if it happened we'd be left with only Smoggy.
It's a great idea, roscafre, but if Vorm leaves Swansea it will be to a bigger club than us. That's why you can't always buy proven premier league players: once they're proven, clubs of similar stature don't want to sell unless its for squillions. And, yes, I know we've been in the top flight a lot longer than Swansea, but like us they aren't in immediate danger of relegation and don't start each season expecting to qualify for Europe. I'm not saying we can never sign players off clubs like that, but we certainly won't be at the front of the queue for their star performers.
