Leeds United will top £100 million in turnover in the Premier League without even breaking a sweat. Case closed.
The bitterness is strong Before and after Abramovich we're unbeaten against Leeds in cup competitions. We've had record attendances you could only dream of having, still the 5th best supported club of all time and 5th most successful in England. Leeds never have been among the true elite of clubs and you know it. Chelsea are and always have been the bigger club. We all hate Leeds Scum Enjoy the game
Really? Is there a billionaire among your board of directors? Genuine question. And you wouldn't make more of an impact than us in the Prem. For a start we have the potential to accommodate almost 15000 more fans per match, which at a very conservative average price of £20, would generate 300k per game more than you. I'll let you work that one out for yourself over 19 games. We would also be covered on television far more than you guys to be fair and I don't think the TV money is evenly spread so we would no doubt realise more than you on that score as well. Shirt sales doesn't even compare. Please enlighten me on how rich your club is though.
From my understanding there is actually, they are richer than Leicester (I don't fully know how much GFH and the people behind our takeover are worth) but Hull don't spend the same amount of money as Leicester (other than that german idiot they don't play) and I don't think they would necessarily spend much in prem either so I think a more valid question is how much is a club willing to spend Everything here though I agree with
Matches picked for TV are usually the rivalries. If we got promoted this year the TV companies would be falling over themselves to try and snap up the rights to our games be it home or away, such is our history such is our reputation. We'd be a bigger draw for fans and a bigger draw for players wanting to play in the spotlight, we have a Premiership size stadium and infrastructure to match. In 2 days time we will have the money to match the clubs stature, to offer us the chance to reach our potential for the first time in 10 years. The Championship wont know what hit them in January, a manager who can take clubs up for fun and the backing he requires to make it happen. Hull may well be doing well, we may well be languishing a bit at the moment but this time last year Reading were in roughly the same position so promotion is not unheard of from where we are right now. Regarding the Chelsea game, I see it as a bit of a bonus a taster of what it to come, an indication to the new owners of what exactly the name "Leeds United" stands for. Today we can show the new owners exactly what a packed Elland Road can do, not only the atmosphere, but on the balance sheet too. They are business men, they may have bought into Leeds due to a passion but a team that cannot generate money soon falls from favour. We can show then what it will be like to own a Premiership club today, and hopefully loosen the purse strings a little more in January. Win lose or draw we've beaten 2 Premiership teams to get where we are now in the cup, no one can say we had an easy ride and we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. No matter what happens I'll be happy in the knowledge I'm supporting a team that's once again on the up after so many years in the wilderness. Every, Manchester, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal fan I talk to tell me the same thing every time. "The Premiership needs Leeds United back".
There are rumours that we have put a 7 million bid in for Fraizer Campbell but I would suspect that to be a load of rubbish, we wouldn't spend that much on him, it would probably be about 2-3 million!
They spent 2.6m on Nick Proschwitz from SC Paderborn 07 at the beginning of the season. We can all mock but we need to do it from a position of knowledge, if in doubt Google it....
Cheers Lucky. By the way, who is Nick P., & what's he done since moving for £2.6m? A poor man's Torres per chance? Not that we'd ever waste any money on a player!!!! How much did we pay for the Brazilian WC winner, or that defender from Swansea... or one or two others???
Give over Hull fan(s), trying to waste our time on you when we're all looking forward to a proper rivalry between big clubs. Off you ****.
One of the reasons we get so many games on TV; when everyone hates you lots of games have the capacity to become rivalries. I doubt any other Yorkshire team is also considered rivals by Derby, Forest and Millwall. In fact aren't we the team who the second highest number of clubs consider their rivals just behind scum?
Correct. And just like them, the majority of those teams that consider us "rivals", we don't really even notice. A lad at my uni was an Ipswich Town fan. He said he saw their main rivals as Norwich City and Leeds United. I was like... seriously? Who are you?
Are you seriously going to let a bunch of fish sniffers derail a Leeds Chelski match thread? I'm rather peeved about this as I can't even watch the game on Sky. Going for 1-0 to the mighty whites though...
Yes, we do actually. We're silently rich. We have massively strong financial backing but we just don't splash it out like other Clubs. And why should we when we've can sign players like Aluko for free, and players like Quinn, Chester and Evans for cheap. Yeah, we spent a ridiculous amount on a flop (Nick Proschwitz) but who can blame Brucey for doing so? For the last 2 seasons, our problem has been scoring goals so when Bruce came in, he had to show he was intent on changing that and signed him. It hasn't worked out as planned but he was originally supposed to start alongside Fryatt who's out for the Season. Simpson and Aluko's form are keeping him out of the side and quite rightly so. You can doubt our financial power, but even the most sensible of you Leeds fans know that we have money to spend if it comes down to it. I think we'll see at least Brady, Elmohamady, Stockdale and a proven goalscorer all bought for over £1million each in January. Unless we only loan Elmo and Stockdale to the end of the Season.
And that money can go a long way towards struggling against relegation should you manage to get into the Premier League. We, on the other hand, will have our sights set on Europe from the moment we get to the Premier League until the moment we achieve it.
And your new "investment" will also be to actually get you Promotion. You honestly believe that when - and if - you get promoted, you'll quite comfortably remain in the Premier League without a relegation battle? Considering you've struggled to muster up a Promotion fight ever since you got Promoted back into the Championship from League 1, I doubt Europe is a realistic aim. The fans may aim for Europe, but really, you know you wouldn't stand a chance. Wake up lads
Seriously - can all the Hull fans **** right off? This is a Leeds vs Chelski MATCH THREAD. Are you all illiterate as well as rich?
It's a MULTI-CLUB Forum so why join a Forum that encourages fans of different sides to talk to each other? If you don't like it, go sign up to an Independent Leeds Forum. Simple. And rather ironic that you accuse us of being illiterate when you didn't realise that Not606 is a Multi-Club Forum. You think you'd take note when signing up...
Leeds in the Premier League will attract better players than Hull. That is just a fact. Hull City will do nothing more than make up the numbers in the Premier League. When Leeds make a return it will be big news and all the attention will be on Leeds' triumphant, delayed return to the Premier League. Players will want to play for us, fans will want to watch us and we'll make a real go of it. Hull City will just be grateful for the small amount of time they get playing with the big boys and being happy with beating the expectation of getting relegated.
