If we've appealed Bruce's card does he get to play Friday? Or will it be sorted by then? Actually as I type I think I remember these things get looked at on Wednesdays, not sure why I think that though? Either way with Hobbs back it's no great loss, as long as Hobbs doesn't tire which is possible when just getting back from a long term injury.
Anyone who thinks Bruce should have his ban reduced or overturned should blame the rulebook rather than whoever is implementing it. The rules say that any violent conduct is a straight red and 3-match ban, I can't see how that will possibly be overturned, I think it's rather more likely that in the event we do appeal he will have it extended to four games instead for wasting their time. The rules are probably wrong, because a push in the chest maybe shouldn't be violent conduct but it's hard to say where you draw the line. We can't really have any complaints that Bruce misses 3 games though.
A push in the chest is hardly violent conduct. But as the game has now gone soft then i guess thats why its in the FA's rule book. As Steve Bruce said, Alex may as well have given him a good old punch and get value for money from his 3 game ban. At least it allows AB to get a rest and get over those nigly knocks. ffs, AB will only be missing a week. Back available and fresh to play @ Blackpool on NYD.
Yes indeed. One point that has not been mentioned so far is that it took alot of restraint for AB to wait until the end of the game before he vented his anger @ Alan Lee. Many would have done Lee there and then.
I think he did it immediately. I saw it on tigers player and I might be wrong but I think that he got elbowed and collapsed to the ground, AB then got up and ran at him by the time he hit him the whistle had blown. I will log in and check.
LOL. No it was deffo after the final whistle. The point was that what AB did did not harm the team in that game. Many would have just gone for Lee straight away. I dont condone what AB did but full understand why he did it. One match for pushing is more than enough imo.
I think you are right with this, it is the rules that doesn't define what degrees of violent conduct actual are.
It makes him more of a twat that he doesn't actually admit to elbowing Brucey. "I was defending myself" Bruce wasn't running up to rugby tackle him FFS!
This is the case but I thought the refs (and FA) generally classed raising your hands above chest hight as just e yelloe but to the neck/ face/ head was violent and a straight red
They probably count thinking about it and then chasing after someone to do it as a more serious offence than just pushing someone away who is in their face and still acting aggressively. Bruce is guilty of violent conduct whether Lee and several others deserved it or not. He should take the punishment instead of making a frivolous appeal and risking an additional ban. All we've done by complaining about the incident is make Huddersfield weaker ahead of games against Palace and Blackpool (and the Wendies, but that doesn't bother me). Could have been worse though, if they'd taken their time suspending him he'd have been missing Blackpool and Leicester, and I'm assuming Town won't have Beckford available either for Leicester due to the loan arrangement, so will now be replacing him with a fresh Lee.
