I'm hoping Venetia Williams and Aidan Coleman can get a quick double up at Ludlow.

Last Shot 1.10 seems to be improving over fences, having looked like the winner after the last in a Conditional jockey's handicap at Wincanton recently. He may have lacked resolution on that occasion, but hopefully his jockey can make his mind up for him today. He should be well up to winning off a mark of 105, I just hope today's the day.

The second leg of the hoped for double is Drumshambo, 1.40, another improving chaser, this one with a recent course and distance win, sure to go off favourite.

Meanwhile over at Newbury, the interesting animal is Restless Harry, who has had a mention elsewhere on this thread. Has had two pretty disappointing runs this season, but if he doesn't pick up the winning habit today there'll be some long faces about. He has to win this, in the same way that Reading had to beat Arsenal the other night in another Berkshire sporting contest.

Interesting nibble for RUSSIAN FLAG 1.40 Ludlow today. I nearly put this up last night until I read the ATR comment. It has had a strange campaign running recently in a Cambridge Uni point to point. Clearly more at home over today's trip as suited by a stiff muddy two miles he is capable at his best of making a mockery of his current mark. Beaten last season narrowly off a little higher. Worth having a nibble at 12's but I wish we had three places.

I'm regretting not putting a double on Poet and Royal Guardsman last night (didn't because my bookie chappie had no prices up). Can't bet from the office but 9/4 and 11/4 is a near-enough 8/1 double. Might well be kicking myself later this afternoon.

I have just been reading the Jim Boyle case, I am staggered that the BHA are trying to read the riot act to him, but basically let others before get away with worse (cough Hendo cough). To me it sounds like a witch hunt trying to prove that they are strong on drugs.

Had a feeling Swnymor might make a nice hurdler, similar type to Our Conor in Ireland, liked both horses alot on the flat, both love soft ground.

Bloody ladbrokes are a bunch of crooks. Rule 4 on a double i put onDouble Dash and Handy Andy last night. Looking at the prices on the two NRs both shortened dramatically before they were withdrawn. Honest John 7/2 when withdrawn, was 5/1 with bet365, Chestnut Ben shortened from 5/1 to 9/2.

Anyone know if BPG counts if the return after the rule 4 is less than the return for the SP?

Just new to this site but was wondering what the eminent students of the turf on here think about Sir Des Champs in the King George? I feel the track and distance will suit him down to the ground. When this animal gets into a rhythm he is a sight to behold, as displayed in the Ryanair. I do feel however that his weakness lies in the jockey how now rides him, D Russell. I cite the run at Punchestown last season. Russell had just been beaten on Trifolium, he gave a display of misjudgement that race which I believe knocked his confidence sufficiently and as such never gave the SDS that sense of calm and balance. Besides a scratchy display of jumping he very nearly departed at the last. Notwithstanding 4 falls on the same card and a couple of short priced defeats for Nicky Richards, I believe that the King George would be W Mullins preferred option, as D Russell may be required to stay in Ireland and allow the horse to be ridden by someone else. Does anyone else feel similarly?

Hmm i'm not sure if that is good or bad with DD now favourite, I'm a bit superstitious with these things, I'm inclined to think we are due for a few to lose :emoticon-0101-sadsm

    Lets hope not! <ok>
