Steward i know was in the concourse after the game and is quite pallly pally with a few of the players. Got talking to A O-C apparently and said the deal with Arsenal is a pre agreed done deal (which is why he doesn't mind it going a bit public now i'm guessing). He just didn't say when the transfer will be though. Personally i hope it's at the end of next season so he can have more first team experience with us. Something to talk about for y'all today.....
If it's a done deal (IF, I said) then he'll be off this summer. No one would sign a deal for another years time as a lot could happen in the interim. As I mentioned before, it's like a dripping tap, we all get worn down by it, and though I would like to keep him, I'd be happy to give some money to NA.
I agree with chocolateboxkid, what the f*** would a steward know about chamberlains situation. anyway he seems quite happy in the pictures in yeterdays gallery on saints website
He'd be pretty silly to go to Arsenal now. The Championship gets ever stronger as teams battle it out for a lucrative Premier League place and the 25 man PL squads mean more quality is finding its way down. He's still got 2 years on his contract and we don't need the money so its all in his hands.
This is Chinese whispers. The end message bears no relationship to the starting comment after its been through several sets of ears. How often do we embellish a story to make it more interesting? We must trust NC to do the best he can for Saints whatever the outcome.
On South Today the other night, they said the club had stated that no player would leave if they didn't want them to. Also, Chamberlain's mother was interviewed after Saturday's game on Solent. When asked about if Alex was staying she said yes as long as everything is in place (or something similar). Make of that what you will but it doesn't sound like he's about to go elsewhere.
I suspect that anyone who wants one of our players had better be respectful. Otherwise, I think the Don would rather shoot them than let them go. Remember he shredded enquiries from Liverpool because they dared to send it by fax!
I caught Alex O-C's mum of Radio Solent and judging by her response it definately made it sound like she feels that his future would be best served at Southampton. It was frustrating to lose Walcott so quickly - we seemed to be waiting for him to make his debut longer than he ended up wearing the red and white stripes. Whilst some of the larger clubs like Man Utd and Arsenal have good set ups, I would have thought that he would be much better off staying a Saint for a few more seasons. Arsenal are a club that have struggled to win silverware recently and a mass exodus of the better players like Fabregas would suggest that this is a club on the wain. Man Utd would be a better destination although they would probably loan him out. Other than money, there is no reason for him to leave and the opportunity for a second, successive promotion may be an added attraction.
Rubbish! Oxlade-Chamberlain will be staying If we didn't win promotion then I think he would have gone, but since we've got promoted I think he will stay after having a successful debut season
I am still uncertain as to why our own fans have to keep feeding us these tales of woe. I am pretty sure we all want him to stay so why can't we just leave these stories for someone else to start.
He'll probably be off at some point. A season of tearing up the Championship will improve him as a player and make him a much more attractive prospect for bigger clubs intending to use him as a first team player. Make sure we have a sell on clause, then we get a nice bonanza when he moves to a European giant for ãxxxmillions. I'd love him to stay and become a legend, but he'll be improving faster than the team and there will come a point, probably the end of next season, when we'll be holding him back. The team is more important than one individual and we can continue to improve steadiy even when he moves on. I'd resent him leaving solely for the money, but I'd have no complaints about him leaving for the genuine betterment of his footballing career.
What a load of rubbish ! did you see how pleased he was in the pictures on the OS ? I really hope he makes the right decision and stays.
