when he scored that goal i had no idea about how good it was. we were sitting level with where he took it but it just looked like he'd hit it hard and straight! it wasn't till i saw it on tv back home that i realised what we'd seen. special goal
I remember seeing the Willie Carr one for Coventry many years ago. Many attempts were made to copy that one in the playground with a tennis ball.
was that the one which is now deemed illegal, where he put the ball between his feet, flicked it up and it was volleyed in? if so, we did it in a youth match - i wasn't involved in the free kick (although i was the one fouled) but we did it, volleyed it over the keeper and it counted! my dad reckons it is still the best goal he's ever seen - we were 11

I can't remember if it was a free-kick or from open play, but I remember Phil Mulryne hitting one from distance which looped up off the head of the ref and in. It was against Reading and we won 3-0 I think.
That was from open play I think. A Reading Clarence bounced off the back of the ref setting it up nicely. When it comes to seeing freekicks live I don't have much luck. The freekicks are usually scored by the opposition. Although I have seen one or two C Martin freekicks!
Yes that was special he was a clever little player ! In recent years at Carrow Road the one Chrissy Martin scored against Leeds was pretty good
