I agree about Enrique and the reasons for his success in that position but we see Sturridge from completely different perspectives. I'd say he will have exactly the same problems Sterling's had with this formation. Their best asset is pace but that role requires intelligence more than anything. Sterling hasn't got that because he's young and inexperienced. Sturridge hasn't got it because he's a balloon. Enrique hasn't excelled there because he's a whippet. He's excelled there because he has the intelligence to time his runs so that he links up with Suarez or arrives back post at the right times etc etc. Pace is useless in this system because we fanny about with the ball for so long in defence and midfield. I know you won't like this JS but the only way I can see Sturridge performing well for us is either as the central striker or if he clicks well with Stevie G. He's the only one who ever looks to release players early and that's the only way Sturridge will thrive (same with Walcott).
I know you love the club as much as me, but it's not as dark as all that. It was never going to be that easy to plough the furrow we're on, but we have to have faith that we'll get there. I live in Warrington where there is a significant proportion of mancs. Even a number of the die-harders are voicing their positive views on the way we're going. We live in hope mate. the mancs were away from it for 26 years and look where they are now. Dig in lad. We'll get there
Yeah but they had Murdoch on their side to get them back to the top Mate I come on here for a rant but I don't let it get me down anymore. I accepted we're **** a long time ago it's a simple fact though that top players are much harder to keep hold of these days and that's especially true when you can't offer them CL football nevermind a chance to win the league. It's a vicious circle and the only way out is to get your tactics right and buy really well. Our recent record on both fronts is damn poor. But hey...whether we're mid-table, winning the league or down in the second division I'll still be sitting in my seat moaning about something Ps...just so you know...when the Manks are being sympathetic and nice about us...then you know we really are in deep ****.
I should imagine Brendan will get more than £20 million. Pretty poor if only that amount for sure...
Why would that amount be poor...? He had about the same in the summer (I'm sure someone will point out exactly how much it was shortly) and if given the same again then that is not bad going, £40m ish per season...?
Lets say we had 20 in the summer. Who did we sell to add to that. That 20 alone only gets us Joe Allen and Assaidi. Where did the funds for Borini come from? I know we sold Kuyt, bellamy, Aquilani ( 7 mil was it?). Probably from that then I guess. But then how much did we have leftover? We had just about enough for Dempsey although it did not work out.
According to this {LINK}, we spent £37.488m and recovered £9.196m. That's a net spend of £28.292m, obviously the wage bill will have gone down but since I don't have access to the accounts books...
How the **** Chris Bascombe got a job at the Torygraph I'll never know. I've met him a few times (went to school with a mate of mine). Bellend. His Echo columns were always dull as ditchwater. If we get £20 mill that'll be on agreement he ships out Mandy either in Jan or the summer. Can't believe we've already decided how to waste it
That is it, I have had enough. I am putting 10 dollars in the pot. 20mil plus 10 dollars, aka 4 pounds.
Take the Raul money into account as well (which no one ever does). We sold him to the Chavs for what 12 mill?
