Irish Newspaper report Been impressed with his development as wingback and I for one, would welcome him an a permanent deal. Hope it's true.
I seem to remember someone (probably OLM) saying we had an option to buy last season for about £750k??
Slow news day in Oireland, it's just a completely speculative story. I don't think he'd cost us £2m, we did have an option last season for a far lower amount.
Did Brady sign a contract extension at Old Trafford in the summer, or did I completely make that up? If he did, that would bump up the price a bit
He signed one this time last year, just so that he couldn't leave for nothing in the summer. I imagine that was only a one-year extension so it should be up again this summer and if we want to buy him in January, I can't see us having much of a problem.
He was out of contract at the end of this season and signed a new deal in Jan, adding another season(so he's tied up until 2014).
It would not surprise me to see Brady sign as a perm in Jan. But he wont cost anywhere near £2m. Maybe a sell on clause as MU always insist on that one. Looks like MON has to sell to buy or loan as the next PL tv cash goes straight to the bank. Media reports suggest.
Link? All I could find is this http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11695/8338828/Sunderland-boss-Martin-O-Neill-hoping-to-bolster-his-ranks-in-January
It was in either the Express or London mail on monday. The headline was "Barclays bank black cats cash"
If I was Brucey, i'd get all of our loanees on perms. Including Meyler (who is still at the club as I write this)
Sunderland's finances have significantly improved over the past year, they lost £7.8m(against £20.1m the previous year) and their income was up 20%, which is a hell of an increase in the current climate.
I'd like to get Brady permanently, I think he has that flare and attacking mindset that scares defenders. If we get both him and Elmo permanently, I'd be over the moon. Still undecided about Meyler though, I think we could stregthen other areas instead of signing him such as a forward. Especially since as in Cairney is back. Extend his loan to the end of the Season maybe but I wouldn't want us to blow funds on an area we're already strong on. Don't forget we've got Koren playing upfront at the moment, so when Aluko is back from injury and we sign another striker, Koren would drop back to midfield and Meyler would miss out anyway. Unless you wanted to drop another midfielder such as Quinn, Evans or Cairney.
Depends on the price tag that Jol places on him. If he's cheap, sign in permanently, but if it's too much, just loan him till the end of the year and sign him in the Summer. Our focus should be on getting a striker. That should be the entire approach made in January by Steve Bruce. Get the striker, and then decide on what to do with the loanees depending on the price tags. The Allams have promised full backing, and should have no problem with buying these players if they're to keep their word.
I believe Papa Allam will see his promise through. With this Stockdale situation just cropping up, I believe we're going for Mannone. This could have happened in January so we could replace Stockdale.
Meyler is getting better and better with each game. Our midfield is now the best in the championship. I think Stockdale himself will sort out Fulham. From his tweets i would love to be a fly on Jol's office wall on thursday. Maybe Jol will have a re-think especially IF they call off the boxing day game with saints. But for now lets all get behind Ben Amos ffs.
