KC took 15 months to build and probably 3 years in planning and prevarication. If we got to BPL would we stay there for this length of time.
You can already get from the KC to Kirkella in 15 minutes. For the record, I don't think we're going anywhere.
Transport from East Hull to Melton. Come on by moving are we not trying to raise our profile and improve the average supporter income... Its like moving Hull schools up the league table by including the east riding. We are Hull City, just without the hassle of having to actually go to Hull....
That the KC didn't need to be expanded, as we didn't manage to sell out a single game when we were in the Premier League. He's completely clueless.
This has to be a piss-take. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would want to swap loyal supporters for prawn sandwich plastic ponces.
Neither do I... I was just being a sarky bar steward.... Moving is of no benefit in the long term unless you need an asset to facilitate a future club sale.... They do say a good move in business is to formulate an exit strategy at the beginning. Maybe that was it. Allams buy City, aquire the stadium and in 36 months or so with us in the EPL they sell it on lock stock and barrel. Although Leeds went for £25m without owning a ground.
Got to agree with Papa Allam on this. If the council continue to refuse to sell the stadium and obstruct city's progress then I don't blame him for not dancing to their tune. It'd be a shame if we had to leave the KC but what's the point if we aren't going to become a bigger, better club in the long-term? Without a bit of money coming in from somewhere we're just going to stagnate in this division or lower. Assem won't be around to fund the club forever.
Why is someone who must be about 80 years old, the face and voice of promoting a 'thriving modern city'? He was recently quoted in the HDM about the Tour De France coming to Yorkshire, saying he'd do everything he could to make sure Hull played a part (in other words, no chance!). In that piece there was this: "Cllr Geraghty believes hosting major sporting events will boost the region's economy and help attract more businesses." (unless it's football of course!) So Geraghty thinks limiting a team in the city, doing well in the most popular sport in the country is the answer to "hosting major sporting events". He wants to be careful what he wishes for, otherwise he'll end up with a stadium either with only 1 tenant who only half-fill the stadium 99% of the time. He said he didn't want to sell the stadium to the Allams, and after stating the council would work with them on upgrading the KC, they're now trying to wriggle out of it with poor excuses. Hosting games in the city centre in the most popular league in the world, is much better than hosting them out of it, don't you think Terry?
The man is correct mathamatically we didn't sell out the KC once. The capacity is 25,568 and the highest premier league attendance was on 9th May 2010 which was a meagre 25,030 v Liverpool. So there was a shortfall of 538 at the highest attended match. He obviously understands things like segregation and no show from visiting allocations.
The segregation at the KC is huge though, something to do with the position of the interior doors in the concourse, meaning people in a certain area aren't within 'x amount of foot' from an emergency exit or something, meaning nobody can sit in that area.
You're not going to build a stadium in 2 years, never mind 2 months. If we get promoted, do we start planning the Stadium in May? Could be in League 1 by the time we move in...
Its clear whats being said here about the KC Stadium on its 10th anniversary, the council and its backward spokesman Geraghty believe theyve done their bit and delivered a 25K stadium and in small minded tubby lard M62 corridor land where the local chavs get the entertainment they deserve from a once a year Retro Gypo Fair thats more then big enough for run down Hull so they aren't interested in ever doing anything else to it. The Allam family however have tuned in to a greater vision where City are established in the Premier League and are aiming for European competition, where we have built on the Olympic Legacy of Luke Campbell and we have a regenerated West Park sports village to complement our new prosperous Energy City. Time to decide which future vision you proscribe to as a City fan and challenge the backward council to get on board and make things happen.
