just your opinion on him lads

Someone on the SMB rekon's we are going to sign him as his agent and the player have already been upto the club this month and I have to say I am a bit gutted.

Milner is a good player and he would be an improvement but is he what we need?? Its totally predictable MoN when it comes to transfers.

My argument is he is not what we need because we need two different types of players in CM

We need a big box to box powerhouse who can pick the ball up and run with it, but who can also put there foot in when they have to.

and/or a player who can pick the ball up off the defence and set the tempo for the team, get the ball to the creative players early and in the right areas.

Now for me Milner is neither and apart from workrate I don't really see what else he offers, he isn't a strong player who is going to put his foot in, he aint going to pick the ball in and drive at teams and he aint going to be that creative player we lack, he would just be an upgrade for what we already have and I really don't think we need that.

Just my opinion but for the price Milner would cost (surely around 8-12m) then I think we should rather spend it on the types of players we are lacking.

Be decent for us as he's streets ahead of Gardner, Vaughan and Colback.

I think Milner next to Catts could work out quite well.

Totally this. I reckon he would be an ideal box-to box midfielder.

I like him. Don't see why he seems to get a bashing off most people.

Can you remember Milner in the middle for Villa, he was top drawer! And he tore us apart at the SOL under Bruce with an absolute screamer.

I thought this was going to be a thread all about Milner being a good option for us, he would improve us in the middle massively.

One other thing, he wont come so its all ifs and buts. He gets games, plays for England, is on mega bucks, wont want to be in a relegation battle. I couldnt think of one reason Milner would want to come here.

Doesn't look to bad, but there's no height and power.

Good player but Mankini really likes him and wages wise he'd have to take a monsterous drop. He is on about £100k per week. Milner does seem fed up with Mankini using him in defensive roles and they did have a bust up at West Ham earlier this season. Only last week Mankini was talking about looking forward to having him back from injury though.

Unfortunately no! haha The CM gap to play along side Catts is the big issue at the moment on SAFC forums, I wonder who it will end up being! Might have to wait until the summer though.

AJ is already here, i'd imagine they were on similar wages at City.
I've heard he is a dead cert.

Were in a relegation battle presently though mate, put yourself in Milner's position, would you come? Milner also plays a lot more than AJ did.

I actually think Milner would be a decent player for us - but, as Danny Sess says, he's getting game time at City (although not sure how long for)

More likely to be a summer option as well mate as they lose Yaya Toure for ACON, thats why there will be no truth in this rumour unfortunately for us.

He defo wouldn't be released until the last day of January, if he were to be let go. Mancini will need cover as losing YAYA, while he's in Africa.

I agree, which is why I'd play:

    Johnson----Milner------Catts----Sess

    -------------------Fletcher------------

    ---------------Wickham------------------

That's if milner is coming, doesn't have to be Milner, just a new cm. Gards in at RB
