I see no difference to how it used to be. The same sort of teams played in Europe then as they do now.

The thing is I can remember as a 9 year old listening to Liverpool St Etienne on the radio in bed. They won 3-1 to go through to the semi final of the european cup. It was unusual, special to see (well hear ) an English team win in a big competition in Europe. It instilled a sense to magic about football and the glamour involved. The players were conected more to the fans (Phil Thompson paraded the european cup that year in his local pub) European teams were rarely seen on TV, they were mysterious teams, when uk players went abroad it was a big deal, not anymore. All of those sorts of qualities imbued the european football nights with a sense of awe, expecation. That doesn't happen anymore, because the world has moved on. Ultimately I guess all I am trying to say in a very roundabout way, is that they FELT bigger and more special because they happened less frequently, were not televised as much and so on. maybe it's just nostalgia

This is referring more to to the players caring more about money and I think this makes no difference to wanting the football at Carrow Road.

Seriously though, I think a club like us it would do more harm than good. Stretch the squad, will probably cost us money to participate, if we don't do well in it could halt any momentum we build in the league.

Don't get me wrong Supers, I would love to be in the position to qualify, but think the actual competition will not benefit us. I don't even think there will be anything memorable from it. Too many games in it.

The last European cup run wasn't that memorable for me, but that may be because I was 3!

there has been some comments on here about the fair play league. although we are doing well on the cards front, i didn't realise until just now that it's not just based on cards, and we are 8th in that league after 14 games <cry>. You can see we are top of the cards column (R/Y)

How are we that low? Have we done anything wrong all season?

i agree it looks odd given the other rating criteria. probably irrelevant if nobody gets a place like last season. somebody more knowlegable might have an idea

That table makes no sense at all! I'm assuming the R/Y column refers to red and yellow cards - so how come we have the highest score with 128? I thought we had the fewest cards this season, how is it calculated and what do the other columns refer to?

munky i think the highest score means the least amount of cards, as the aim is to get the highest score over all the factors. They must knock points off for each card <ok>
there's a link at the bottom which takes you to how the other bits are measured, it's a bit general as there must be a score for each game available, might not be disclosed.
