Just rang the ticket office to see if it was likely the game would make general sale. The guy said " impossible to say until Monday with silver card members " Now, I for one am at a loss here. We will surely sell out 2,900 allocation without any trouble, however, surely we could take 5,000 / 6,000 to the game. I really hope if we sell out the original allocation the club applies for more. I live in Bristol, and my Bristol Rovers friend always laughs at our away support numbers. They took 6,000 to Derby, and had around 7,500 fans at Fulham for an F a Cup tie. Not amused!!!!!
Your Bristol Rovers supporting fans take the piss? The two away games you have stated are each more then their average home attendance so I would tell them to bugger off as it seems to me that they are only there for the 'glory' games! Our away attendances are normally fairly impressive, considering the current economic climate and our rather woeful performances over the last couple of seasons. Im not one of the travelling hundreds but am quite proud of the fans who follow ITFC around the country for the mundane world of the CCC.
Well i for one have always been proud to be amongst the Town away fans whether it was in some doghole in Europe or in England. Remember that crazy night in Barnsley a year ago? It was live on TV and very close to christmas so I think there was only about 350 of us at Oakwell in sub zero temperatures but the young lads who seem to be at almost every away match were belting out the songs with their shirts off, quantity is unimportant its the quality that counts.
Allocation news.... there are just a few restricted view seats before it goes on general sale and we won't be asking for more tickets, we'll have less than 3000
yorkie, why is that? why, if demand is high, is your club not prepared to buy more tickets to sell? are times really that hard? surely you want as many fans as possible at games like that.
apparently the club would have had to pay for the unsold tickets, so we could have had 2,900 or 6,400. I haven't managed to get one - I cannot justify getting a silver membership simply to buy one ticket..........! Surely Villa could have been more reasonable in this too, and left a block free so if we sold we could have applied for a further allocation easily. Not amused. I don't see any way I'll get a ticket now, so probably be in the home end, along with hundreds of other town fans.
superman, i have managed to get my tickets today (with restricted view!) but still rang the club secretary so try and put across my anger that a hell of a lot of fans wont be able to make it. the official line from them is that they were offered an allocation of 2,900 and to go up to 4,500 they would have to buy the tickets and risk losing out if they didn't sell them. i tried to explain that with the dross served up in recent times an fa cup match at villa is going to bring the fans out of the woodwork and we would easily sell it. the rather arrogant secretary then told me that i am thinking it from the side of a fan rather than a business, what the **** does she expect? for me the club should be prepared to take a punt on this, look at recent fa cup games the same happened at chelsea and watford! She then told me that they had satisfied all "loyal" supporters through season tickets/gold members etc and that a lot of the one's left disappointed would essentially be fairweather supporters, at which point i think i called her a rude, incompetent so and so and swiftly hung up!
if there is one thing your owner should be able to get right its ticketing. i seem to remember you had the same problem last year against chelsea...
According to the club, there is no sale or return on any further tickets. Town would be entitled to 15% of the ground, 6,400, but say that since average away attendances were less than a thousand they were unable to work out that more people would want to go to this than away to Bristol City or Barnsley. I believe that Town could still ask for more tickets (I may be wrong) and it's obvious if it's sold out before general sale you're going to do at least the same number of tickets again. From my discussions with Simon Clegg it would seem there is no statistician at the club employed to predict demand and set prices. I also spot a howler seemingly every time the club shop announces something so market research isn't being conducted as it should be. It's definitely one area of the club where a £40,000 salary for a statistician and a £2k a month market research budget would pay itself back in no time and it's an area of the club which has been shockingly mismanaged under Marcus Evans' tenure.
Villa surely won't sell out their allocation.... We're hardly a big draw for their fans so it makes no sense what so ever. I think someone is pulling a fast one here, either Villa are being unreasonable with their '2,900 or 6,400 allocation' or we are being sneeky to our fans and simply not bothered to purchase any more and hiding behind made up excuses as the powers that be at our club can't see any profit making out of us selling any more..
hmm. not my club and you can do as you please but were it me i'd be making a formal complaint about that telephone conversation. from a business point of view, i understand the logic behind only claiming 2,900 based on you having an average of 650 this season, but it does show an alarming lack of understanding of how football supporters view away days like this! villa away is a big game for you guys in a competition you love and you would only need to look back through previous, similar away days to see that you are capable of selling lots of tickets in games like this. your club have a curious knack of pissing you all off in all manner of ways these days!
I would put that phone conversation to the Evening Star and TWTD. I wouldn't bother complaining to the club, if it's one fan they are too arrogant to realise its not the fan who's wrong.
Will have to do the same, WILL be wearing club colours and WILL be cheering Town goals, no doubt it will put most people off going though.
do you fancy blocking the same block, could even sit together if you want mate !? I'll get a half villa half Ipswich scarf - turned around to the Ipswich bit by " accident ! "
I don't get paid till Friday so was going to book then Westlake... if you want to PM me your seat details I can ask when I book
we'll start with next to each other at a game, then for Brighton we'll roomshare haha! yeah cool, I'll be booking mine tonight or tomorrow and i'll send over the details.
