    Good Morning Everyone,

Warnock has opened talks with Stoke and Tonge about the perminant signing of Tonge in January. Suppose an 18 month contract would not be the end of the World. Thoughts?

Its gonna be a busy couple of weeks at ER. Not only will Haigh and Warnock be sorting out the perminant signings of Hall, Tonge, Tate and hopefully either Thomas or Gradel but we are promised a big name striker in January. Add to that 1 cup game and 3 league matches in the next 11 days or so, and it suddenly becomes clear just how important these games are going top be for us.

Who do we reckon the 'big name striker' will be?

Word also has it, that we are after 53 year old Ian Harte!!! Thoughts?

Morning all <ok> We had the chance to snap up Harte 4 seasons ago when he went to Carlisle on a free from Spain. Grayson said he wasn't good enough, but he scored 21 goals for Carlisle that season and if he had scored only half of those for us that year we would have gone up. Grayson should have snapped him up even though plenty on here said he was too old and slow. He was Readings best signing later and was ever present in their promotion side and he scored 14 goals again from midfield. he's still got an educated boot on him, but I think it may be too late for him at Leeds now. He's either in midfield or at the back these days, but is probably too old to sign, unless he's a freebie on a one year deal, because we need to be looking at the future not the past.

We need to wait and see what happens on Friday with GFH, because if the monies go through we have new owners, if not we're going to struggle with Bates still in charge, even though GFH will own 33.3% of the club. That'll mean hardly any activity in the transfer market next month.

Morning Elland, morning Doc & others joining. A busy few weeks for us. No idea who we might get as a striker. Kenwynne Jones is a possibility as he clearly believes he won't be at Stoke next season. Me, I'd prefer us to get Beckford back. If we play to his strengths & with Becchio doing all the grunt work for him, we'll be a serious threat for auto nevermind top 6.

Back in a bit. Got a bit of work to do. TTFN

Morning all. Elland, your'e post reads like we should sign Harte as a striker. That's a bit of a novel idea.
I'm clearly in the minority here, but am far more excited about the Chelsea game than any league matches. Maybe it's an age thing. I grew up watching Leeds win trophies and throw away many. I miss that and see this as maybe only chance we may have for years of winning another one such is the current with football bias towards the top 4. The game does seem to have capture the interests of lots of the travelling fans with 37k expected at the game.
It's where Leeds belong in my mind, playing the Chelsea and scum, not the Hulls and Millwallllls of the world

Eire I'm like you mate <ok> I used to get sick of listening to the scousers and mancs singing "you're always runners up" It used to get right up my nose. The best team in europe but due to fixture congestion and bad refs we dipped out a lot. The WBA game where we were ripped off by the ref for the title, the european final where it was later proved the ref took a bung .... Mind you Sprake didn't help us at times when he had the scousers singing "carless hands" after he threw the ball in the net

How about the one where we had to play final league deciding game two days after losing cup final without our Internationals cos they were playing for England on the Wednesday.
We really were **** on back then as well. Tomorrow could be a little revenge for 1970 cup final

Play Harte as a striker <yikes> He was slow (and a bit of a liability) in his prime as a left back, but always had a wicked left foot where it came to free kicks. Couldn't imagine he has gained any pace as he nears 40....

Hull and Millwall have always been small fry, but we still need to humour them <laugh>

Not sure I can quite stretch to this being a revenge match for 1970 as the sides were then competing on a level playing field (as level as the old Wembley ever was in 1970!!). But it'll be a good game & a chance for our 2nd string to test themselves against their 3rd string. I've heard of bubble matches. Maybe this is a strings match!!

Will be interesting if we get Beckford, but is he a big name?

He hasn't really done it since!!!

If we get get Beckford, Udders would sign Woods, paving the way for the Mighty Wall to sign Paynter <ok>

Beckford's big enough. I don't know who we would get who is a bigger name. Owen is past his best & likely to be retained for what he could do. Kenwynne Jones is a possibility. What other big name would not be retained by their club in the run in to the business end of the season?

It would be good to see a few players with a cig on in the centre circle. A couple of midfielders sharpening their studs whilst eating fish and chips like Alf Tupper. can't beat reading the racing post while nothing to do in goal  Those were the days when athletes didn't play football or charge up and down the pitch. Remember that tosser Chopper Harris who called us dirty Leeds wtf, he was an animal, and Osgood could dish it out as well

Oh for the memories Doc. 60, what makes you think Beckford's on 40k per week? That's over £2m a year. In the great scheme of things & having noted that Leicester have got some pennies behind them (having noted that 'Udders couldn't possibly be meeting whatever his wages are in full), I can't believe that Leicester would be paying £2m a year for a guy that can't even get into their 1st XI.

Our crew arriving at Football Leagues headquarters. Hope the car in the background wasnt the mode of transport or we can forget about signing Beckford or anyone else for that matter. You would think they would at least hire a decent looking car for appearance sakes. Not a lot of paperwork with them either.
