NEWCASTLE star Demba Ba has given the clearest indication yet that he wants to swap St James Park for the Emirates. The Daily Mail reports that the Senegal striker "has opened the door to a move to Arsenal" during the course of a Sunday evening interview with French broadcaster Canal Plus.

Asked if he was aware of recent stories in the press linking him with a move to the Gunners, Ba replied: "I have nothing to say about those speculations... the media know Arsenal need another striker and they know about my release clause. They need to make their own mind up about it."

Ba signed a new contract with Newcastle in 2011 which contained a £7.5m release clause and though the Magpies want him to commit to the club, Ba seems to have other ideas. "Arsenal are one of those teams who make you dream," he told Canal Plus.

Still with Arsenal and The People claims that Arsene Wenger is lining up a move for Toulouse star Moussa Sissoko in a couple of weeks' time. Apparently the 23-year-old midfielder has turned up his nose at a new deal offered by the French club and that's led to speculation he could be about to sign for the Gunners in an £8m deal.

The People says Wenger is keen to add "bite to his midfield" and he believes the French international is the right man for the job.

Yes, it could be yet another paper making stuff up but All Demba needs to do is say..... 'I'm going nowhere fullstop'.
Forget his contract for a minute, he could just reaffirm his commitment to say but he hasn't.
As I've said on other threads I'd like this sorted one way or another and if he goes, I hope it's sooner rather than later as I think it's pretty clear he will be away.

I don't expect Demba to stay, but I also don't expect him to give a definitive statement on whether he's staying or going til after the window when it's obvious!

Scoring so many goals in a poor team that provides very few chances is going to make him an obvious target, and the fact he's not contractually on what a player of his caliber should be on(/could get), and potentially has a very small release clause fee, just leave you to wonder and appreciate how he's lasted so long here!

Would love Demba to stay, but I'm under no illusions about the modern footballer's priorities. He's clearly enjoyed his time with us, he's always had that smile and done outstandingly, so I'll never have a bad word to say about him, whether he's scoring hat-fulls against us in the future and celebrating each one like it's the last that will ever be scored. If we offered him 90k a week, and say Chelsea et al offered 70k, and he chose them, I wouldn't begrudge him at all, never-mind if he left for more.

What I hope, is that he that he goes to a top team because he's good enough, rather than settle for the first mid-table/upper mid-table train out of here in Liverpool or Arsenal.

Probably been complimentary about Arsenal. No problem with that, its a nothing story when you read the content. The hysteria needs to stop from fans about it though. Longer term it is going to become difficult to keep him regardless, we've always known this. We're into silly season now, it'll only ramp up.

I was quick to ask for a comment from him last time speculation came up, and I believe he gave one the other week saying he is happy where he is. I think he'll be here until the summer at least. It would nice if he could get some control over his agents but this is modern football. He is still doing the business and I just intend to enjoy him while he lasts. I think he truly enjoys playing his football here but when you can treble your wages, what can people really expect from you?

Like TheJPF says I hope he goes to a top club. I differ in that I think Liverpool/Arsenal are in that bracket. If he is moving the clubs he needs are Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal. They are the big clubs for me at present. They have the resources and history combined.

Demba now hitting out at team tactics (although we do it regularly).....

    http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2012/12/18/61634-32447412/

DEMBA Ba has revealed his frustration at Newcastle United’s style of play this season as the sense of uncertainty surrounding the striker’s future builds.

United’s top scorer has scored 11 times this season but, despite his fine form, the spectre of the upcoming transfer window looms large over both the striker and the club.

The Journal can reveal Newcastle have made their “best and final” offer to Ba who gave a revealing interview to French TV station Canal+ in which he talked candidly about interest from Arsenal and admitted to concern at a lack of creativity in the team.

That is unlikely to go down particularly well with Alan Pardew or the board, who privately admit the uncertainty over the striker is their biggest concern as they plan for January.

They have made an offer which would bring Ba parity with the club’s other big earners, but his advisers are not willing to agree a deal.

The Journal understands the player has expressed a desire to play in the Champions League while at the peak of his game and, although he said leaving is “not on his mind”, he also praised Arsenal in his interview, which was broadcast on Sunday night.

There is a conviction, however, the demands around the deal – any buying club may have to shell out almost double the £7.5million release clause to complete a deal – make it far from certain he will leave.

The uncertainty is not helpful, and it was surprising Ba spoke publicly over the weekend after maintaining a silence for much of the summer on his future.

He was speaking to the channel’s flagship football TV programme L’Equipe du Dimanche, who had journeyed to Newcastle after the striker agreed to their request for an interview.

Whether Pardew will welcome his intervention just before the January transfer window is another matter, although the striker did strike an optimistic note in the run-up to the crucial QPR clash on Saturday. Ba’s comments strike at the heart of many supporters concerns this season, with Newcastle clearly suffering because of injuries to two of their creative sparks Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ba said: “I’m not happy when the team does not create anything.

“Fans come to see beautiful games with beautiful actions and not long balls from the goalkeeper to the striker.”

On the prickly issue of his future, Ba admitted the Gunners are “very attractive” but made it clear there had been no contact from North London.

The Journal understands the player would only leave for Champions League football, with the wage demands not the only consideration of his agents as they try to resolve his future.

Ba himself said the links were a case of people putting two and two together, especially because of the clause inserted in his contract, and refused to be drawn in any depth on his intentions in the New Year.

He added: “Journalists just do their job.

“They know Arsenal need strikers, they know a release clause is inserted in my contract, so they make speculations.

“I don’t really want to comment on that, because there hasn’t been any contact, clearly, but it is true Arsenal are a very attractive club.”

In another segment on the TV programme, Ba was pictured taking a delivery of gym equipment – which the interviewer said was not exactly the actions of someone who was about to move.

That drew an interesting response from the Senegal striker.

He said: “I’ll do what I have to do in Newcastle and if I have to leave I will move all this stuff out.

“For now, though, it’s not in my mind.”

Newcastle need no distractions this weekend, especially with a game against QPR on the horizon. Harry Redknapp’s team won their first game of the season on Saturday and have not lost since the former Spurs boss took over – but. even so, Ba reckons they should be beaten at St James’ Park.

Taking heart from Newcastle’s display against Manchester City, Ba said Newcastle could handle the pressure of the must-win game.

He added: “Next Saturday against QPR, if we make mistakes the fans will become more demanding.

“If we play like we did against City, we should win.

“Don’t forget it was the champions we played last Saturday.”

I'd like him to go. I think he's become bigger than the team, which was completely what we weren't about last year. When he arrived, I felt like he had gratitude in his play, grateful such a large club would take a punt on his knee. Now he just looks at the scoring charts and feels he's in the elite.

Ba's moving on will coincide with an upturn in results, I'd put a lot of money on it. He seems to sap the confidence from Papiss and when he has the ball within the final 3rd you just have to hope he scores because his vision, passing and assists are abysmal. One moment against Man City summed it up for me, we were 3 on 2 in attack and all he had to do was roll the ball on to the path of (I think) Cisse, but he managed to overcook the pass and it all broke down. Part of me wondered if his motivation was to knock it longer so he could get on the end of an assist, rather than be provider..

No more contract offers for Demba Ba:

    http://www.nufcblog.com/2012/12/18/no-more-contract-offers-to-demba-ba-period/

It seems Newcastle have made their last and final offer to Demba Ba, and as January approaches we can only hold our breath that no club comes in and meets the £7M release clause, but it now seems completely out of Newcastle’s hands.

Demba Ba – no more offers from Newcastle

We had hoped that Newcastle would make one last final improved offer in an attempt to get the striker to sign a long term contract, especially with the team perilously positioned in the league table at the moment, and things could get even worse after our next four games at home to QPR, away at Old Trafford and the Emirates and at home to Everton.

    How the mighty have fallen.

The last offer Newcastle put on the table put Ba on a par with the money Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini is getting on Tyneside – and the Senegal man can take it or leave it – and it seems he will leave it.

And the speculation is that he could well leave next month if a club meets the £7M release clause in his contract, and one thing seems certain – we are going to have another circus in January just like we had in June and July.

But there have been recent reports that with the agents fees and extras included, the total deal could cost the club twice the release clause amount, and you add to that the high wage demands of Ba’s agents, and it could be an expensive deal for any club wanting to take Ba from Newcastle.

The news coming out of St. James’ Park is that both Derek Llambias and Alan Pardew remain fairly confident that Ba will still be on Newcastle’s books come February, but that hasn’t stopped them from being in advanced talks with Marseilles about signing Loic Remy.

But the move for Remy may be completely independent of Demba Ba’s situation, since we have only three experienced strikers at the club, and Shola Ameobi may be playing for Nigeria in the African Cup Of nations.

But Ba’s unwillingness to sign a new deal will see him become a free agent in 18 months, if he doesn’t leave us before that time.

It’s hardly a good situation Newcastle are in right now with their top goals-scorer – and it doesn’t seem like Ba has much loyalty either.

Toon may be set to fine Demba now.....

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/soc...o-fine-striker-over-arsenal-link-3331486.html
Newcastle could fine Demba Ba for giving an interview in which he admitted he was interested in a move to Arsenal.

Manager Alan Pardew (below) is closing in on the signing of France striker Loic Remy from Marseille in a €14m (£11.4m) deal, but Newcastle are annoyed with Ba's comments.

Ba's future at St James' Park has been a constant source of speculation since his advisers leaked the existence of a £7m release clause 12 months ago, but he caused a stir on Tyneside this week when he openly admitted Arsenal were "attractive" to him.

Newcastle are far from happy with the Senegal international, who made his comments on French TV, and Pardew will discuss with managing director Derek Llambias what action to take.

Ba also criticised the team's tactics and, as the interview was not sanctioned by the club's press department, he is in breach of contract and could be fined two weeks' wages, about £90,000.

It remains to be seen whether a player who has been hankering for a move in the last two transfer windows finally leaves, particularly as there are doubts about whether interested clubs will be able to insure him for the value of his £7m release clause because of a long-standing knee problem.

Newcastle appear to have decided they will sign another striker regardless. Ba, who has scored 11 Premier League goals this season, was given a final new contract offer by Newcastle last month in an attempt to remove the clause, but his representatives have not even responded to it and are demanding wages well in excess of Newcastle's budget.

The club have been scouting the versatile Remy since 2010 and were first linked with a move for him in the summer. Marseille appear to be willing to sell next month.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers have all been linked with the 25-year-old, but Remy is keen on the move to Tyneside.

"They are a very good team," Remy said. "They are a big club with good players, very good fans and a nice stadium that is always full.

"If I have to leave then all parties must be happy." (© Daily Telegraph, London)

Can someone just explain to me, though - in the Summer, when this 'clause' came to prominence, it was widely reported that the clause could only be activated by a Champions League side? Has something somehow changed, because to my mind there's actually only 2 clubs in England he could go to (100% he's not heading to Manchester!). Of those, Arsenal just spent over £20m on two strikers a few months ago and have Walcott constantly banging on about playing up front. Which leaves Chelsea; is Benitez going to come in for Ba? Can't see it.

Looks like Ba can rule out Arsenal for a transfer as it's reported today that they are to sign Jan Huntelar instead. His options are running out unless he's going abroad.

In my opinion, they sap each other's confidence because there is no middle ground where they can both score, and that's obviously happened rarely. One scores, the other doesn't, think it will ever be thus til one leaves. One is always pushed wider, but I don't think they intentionally sabbotage each other, and I think Demba is frustrated that it's not just Cisse who can't find the net or create chances, but pretty much everyone in the team.

Liverpool to sign Ince and Sturridge, might leave Demba with only Chelsea as an option, which I can see them taking to be honest. He's not going to the ACoN and is a prolific finisher, more so than Sturridge (and cheaper). Problem might come in that Benitez has a clear mandate to play Torres no matter what, so does Demba sit on a bench waiting for an injury?

Do you know what? I'd drive Tiote to London myself, because I think we'd get a stack of cash for him. Sorry, all, but I think he's sh*t. I mean, I love him to bits and that, but he has serious limitations and not just with his discipline. This season he's been absolutely abysmal and from what I have seen both Anita and Bigirimana have more to their game on top of good tackling. If we got £15-20m for Tiote and brought in Sissoko instead for around £8m....wow, yes please!!

He's just one of those who has believed their own hype. Last year, Pardew had the team playing one game at a time and as a cohesive unit, well disciplined. This season, they all (including the boss) think they're the 5th best in the country and it's all turned to poop. Tiote is one of the main culprits (not as bad as Willo, of course, but worse than Cabaye/Cisse) and is not untouchable.

I've been expecting news like this. Just as he shows signs of a return to form. :emoticon-0106-cryin Personally I'd be gutted, still a quality player. Chelsea bound I fear as Benitez has made it clear they want a defensive midfielder, and Emerson has already ruled himself out. Sissokho would soften the blow if it did happen.

I prefer we retain him and Ba but what will be will be

    From the Sunderland Echo.

ALAN Pardew has held clear-the-air talks with Newcastle United striker Demba Ba.

Ba – who will be available for £7.5m in January’s transfer window because of a release clause in his contract – gave an interview to a French TV station.

And the 27-year-old was quoted talking about Arsenal, one of the clubs credited with an interest in him.

However, United have had the interview translated, and there will be no disciplinary measure taken against him, contrary to one report.

And Pardew has also held a meeting with the Senegal international, who netted his 11th goal of the season in last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to Manchester City.

“I think the most important thing with Demba is that he’s a goalscorer, and he’s scoring goals,” said Pardew today.

“I’ve had to (speak to Demba). The quotes in England weren’t correct. They were unfair on Demba, and unfair on us.

“There’ll be no disciplinary procedure against him.

“The most important thing in that conversation was about turning the situation around.

“I’ve got no problem with anything he said in that interview.”

Pardew, however, could not offer Newcastle fans any assurances that Ba will still be at the club in February given his complex contractual sitatuation.

“Unfortunately, the contract he has leaves it open, and I have to answer these questions,” he added.

“I think he’d be disappointed to leave in this window. But the decision will ultimately be his.”
