We are all loving the win on Saturday and personally I had a brilliant night to toast our first win of the season But realistically we still have much work to do to ensure our premiership status. All season it's been a case of the team that nearly was... Maybe not for much longer. I saw enough on Saturday to know that our destiny is in our hands, boy we do have the players as well, tarbs is a different class. For me Jamie mackie holds our key and epitomises everything a player should be, grit, determination, never say die attitude. It ain't over yet but let's keep our feet on the ground
I think so as well mate, just need to keep our heads above water and push on after January, keep the faith lads
I said when Harry took over if we were four points from 17th by January we'd have a chance, we're well on target...
Great....keeping an eye on that one.... I think we should also take a bit of satisfaction that we drew our previous 3 games....
I agree with that. No player will have more of a say in whether we stay up or not, than him. If he hadn't of been in the team this season we'd probably still only have 2 or 3 points and effectively be down.
Good post Secret Hopefully the players know they have absolutely nothing to be complacent about. But it is equally important that we, the supporters, stay grounded. Look at Liverpool, two wins in a row for the first time in a year and they start talking about fourth, from staff, players to supporters. Boy did they come crashing down against Villa! Lots of hard work to be done. This season the fixture list favours us more than last year. From February on there are a good oppurtunity we'll collect three pointers on a regular basis. Very important that we keep this "run" we're on going into January. Think we'll be fine with something to spare if we do.
That's endemic in Scouseville. They're still clinging onto stuff they won back in the 70's. They'll never know their place that lot. Although it wasn't good for us, I was glad that Villa pissed all over them on Saturday.
I know! My mates are Liverpool fans. Mid table at best, massively overrated and have been for years. Personally I don't put Villa down as relegation candidates. Lambert are to good and now he's got the young lads playing som good stuff. That Benteke lad is a handfull, great buy.
Looking at the fixture list and thinking we have two home games before the end of the year that are both winnable. WBA and Liverpool are decent but nothing special. I know Newcastle are on a bad run but not expecting anything up there, although a point would keep our run going. Always said that we would need at least 20pts by 01 Jan. if we can get to 16 then we have a chance. Not winning for our first 16 games and still only 4Pts behind the target would give us a fighting chance
Anything less than two wins from safety will do me. Two new signings, DJ to return....perfect platform for Harry.
Correct Thor. That's why its going to be the greatest escape EVER if we do manage to do it. I expect Villa to be okay and probably Sunderland too. Wigan will probably be down there and maybe the Saints but who else is there? Ourselves and Reading look nailed on to most neutrals.
Without disagreeing with you, how do we arrive at that conclusion? 3 weeks ago everybody would have said that about us. I dont see us being "that much" better than them at this moment in time. Granted we've had 1 win but i think its gonna be a lot harder than we realise with prob 6 or so teams that could drop..ourselves included.
Sky did a stat of the last 3 games under Hughes, the teams had something like 20, 17 and 18 shots. In Harrys last 2 games there were 7 and 5 shots against. Thats the difference.
