No idea if there is any truth in it but there are one or two rumours of Werder Bremen's Austrian international centre forward Marko Arnautovic being a transfer target for City. Terrific player, good age (23), two footed, tall, rangy, quick... would be a fabulous signing and a bit of a coup for the club if we could get him. Likes to drift out wide as well so would fit perfectly into our current system. Tends to play out wide more than up front at Bremen but his natural position is up top.
Looking on wikipedia, it seems his attitude might not be perfect (Mourinho called him 'a child'), which could be a concern with our current tight knit squad, we don't need another Chris Martin! Transfermarkt value him at £5.7m. That breaks our record signing by some margin (although to be honest, that's to be expected as we progress as a team), but for that money I'm expecting him to come in, work hard and challenge Holt immediately. Is that fair?
actually folks, its probably best to ignore this! was just doing some digging myself and i think its nonsense - very unreliable source (ie twitter)!
i know diddly about him as a bloke but i'll take your word on that! can only comment on what i've seen as a player and he's very exciting to watch but as i say, i think this is total bollocks. i should have checked where the source was from before i posted it to be honest!
even if this is bollox, it's a great sign of progress that we are being linked with such players. i'm not getting my hopes up too much, but a decent overseas striker would be the best Xmas present.
Wash your mouth out, apologise to Supers for ruining his day and then go stand in the corner until it's time for bed!!!!!
I suspect that, with the transfer window looming, agents try to test the water for their clients by putting out spurious stories that such-and-such a mid-table club is showing interest. This alerts bigger clubs that the player may be available. Remember the Belgium-based Brazilian play-maker with whom we were linked in the summer? We were never interested as far as I know, and when no "big" club came knocking suddenly he was "very happy where he is and has no intention of moving".
do you mean lucas biglia? if so, he was argentine but i know for certain that we WERE interested in signing him and certainly inquired ourselves. i think hughton is even on record as saying as much. however, negotiations never really got going. would have been a monumental signing for us but we got tettey instead (as the cheaper alternative) so it worked out fine anyway
he's a better player than what i've seen of tettey, so...hang on... let me just wipe the drool from my mouth...
Saw him on the Champions League highlights a couple of weeks ago, he would be the perfect player he sat deep in the midfield sprayed the ball about, neat long passes and through balls all on the deck and can tackle. The midfield is brilliant but with the exception of Hoolahan I do think we lack a bit of vision sometimes.
completely agree northants. i think if we could sign anyone (realistic signing i mean), he'd be the one to go for
