Yeah I sure do think Kenny will be given the funds for a title challenge.John Henry wants results and he wants them quickly. He said his sole aim when he bought the club was to destroy Manchester United.
That's funny...I'm sure I've heard that somewhere. Oh yeah, from Jack Walker, John Hall, Roman Abramovich, Sheikh Mansour, and Hicks / Gillett. Sixth time lucky?
John Henry personally may not have the money himself to destroy Man United. However he has the means to do it,He'll do it commercially using a clever business model. He and his partners have the means and the resources to send United back where they belong. And when John Henry says something like that, believe it he's serious. He not only wants to send them back where they belong,He wants to humiliate and destroy them.
Ironically AF's biggest aim is to "knock Liverpool off their perch," so it'd be extremely fitting for our owner (who just bankrolled and supported the Red Sox to overcome a 80+ year title drought and beat their biggest rivals to the title) and manager (who quit just before AF began to make a mark) to "knock Man United off their perch." After all, we've both had our periods of success and I'd say in terms of success we're about equal, although 1 premier league title =/= 2 European cups extra. Only a fool would determine Liverpool to be a spent force now, if anyone were to say that to us - we'd just refer them to the stats since Kenny came in, in January. They'd see us at 2nd best points ranking and be forced to swallow their words. Not to mention our owners have been known to spend MASSIVE amounts of money on players in baseball, why not in football as well? After all, I'd say that success in football brings in a larger revenue than in baseball.
Hicks and Gillett were actually good businessmen. However their problem was they didn't have the resources to succeed.FSG may not have the money of Sheikh Monsour, then again nobody does. However they have the means ie through their business port-folio to take Liverpool back to the top.One being Fenway Sports Management. All Liverpools commercial dealings will be done by them. Thus far they haven't disappointed ie the ã25 million kit deal that kicks off next summer. However,This summer has to be when they make a real statement of intent. This summer will be one of the most crucial.
