Just caught the end of Phil Babb talking about Tottenham v Swansea on SSN just now and he reckons Defoe could be tempted if Liverpool move for him in January and Dembele could also move in January if "one of the bigger top 4 clubs" comes in :D

Got to love the silly season gearing up :p

    Defoe to Liverpool? <laugh>

He's recently signed a new deal, in the form of his life, openly admits he loves Spurs yet he'll be tempted by LIVERPOOL?! At least stick Man City or Utd there just to make it look the slightest bit feasible...

And Dembele will be sold after just 4/5 months? This **** just gets better and better.

Phil Babb - Epic fail my friend.

Given Dembele has already played for 2 teams this season, he's not allowed to transfer to a 3rd anyway.

Vertonghen appears to be doing a bit of media tapping up today. Touting Christian Eriksen for us, basically.
Good young player, but he'd probably be more of a summer target and one with a fair bit of competition for his signature, too.

Let's hope Eriksen thinks like Verts did, and joins a club where he'll play regularly. Everyone goes on about how much of a talent he is, it'd be a shame for him to go somewhere and sit on the bench. he's got years ahead of him to play for one of the best teams in the world if he's that good.

The funny thing is Roo, he doesn't think that he's that good.
He's bemoaned his own inconsistency, saying that he doesn't perform well enough on a week-to-week basis and tends to shine in their big games, rather than all of the time.
Nice to see that sort of awareness and willingness to improve, though.

From the quotes I've seen it's sounded like he was asked about Eriksen and he's basically said he could play in the Premier League if he wanted and that he's a very good player.

Not seen much of him apart from at the euros when he was tipped to be one of the stars but we need an attacking midfielder so could be worth a punt? especially as our chairman likes to buy young players with sell-on value.

well that sort of attitude is perfect for us. Someone who wants to better themselves and give their all. - if he was to become the vertonghen of our midfield, I'd be absolutely over the moon.

Its a long shot, but I'd love to see us sell Livermore and Huddlestone and buy Eriksen and Moutinho. I know the 2 latter players will cost £40odd mill, but we could pick up £15m or so from selling JL and TH.

£25m net spend on those two would be marvellous. As we're turning into a cup side too, it gives us the perfect balance for rotation.

Parker (not got long left before he retires IMO), Sandro, Moutinho, Eriksen, Dembele.

    class.

Verty seems to be in love with Spurs as he showed with his insistence on joining nobody but us. I thought maybe he is just saying this to get a decent move.

now having seem him play on the pitch and talk off it its obvious the guy is an adopted Yid and wants to get success with us...hes getting the same kind of love BMJ gets from us.

We need another striker as well (2 still not enough regardless of how well they're playing) and we need another defender (someone like JV who can play FB/CB) to replace Gallas.

I think it'd be harsh to sell Jake - he's still young and is learning his trade. Plus he only looked rubbish when the whole team were playing rubbish at the start of the season - last season Jake looked really good.

    Hi moorph.

Yep, we certainly do. However, I don't think we'll spend mega bucks on a striker. It'll be someone quality, but at the right time when there is no fee to pay. A llorente type in the summer, perhaps. As for the defender it'll be a youngster with potential.

Over the last couple of years I've started to make myself think slightly differently. Maybe 3 or 4 years ago, I used to rate players like hudd and Livermore, but that was before we pushed on as a club. Those types are just not good enough now, IMO. they are the difference in terms of quality, which just don't cut it for me. If Livermore was that good, he'd be really highly spoken of already. But IMO, he's just the next o'hara.- a decent player of premiership standard, but not top 4 material.

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ggests-he-could-be-willing-to-move-to-England

Belgian international Toby Alderweireld has hinted he would be open to the prospect of following former Ajax colleague Jan Vertonghen to England.

The 23-year-old defender, who has been with Ajax his whole career, has been linked with a move away from the Eredivisie.

Alderweireld saw Vertonghen receive offers from both Arsenal and Tottenham as he departed Ajax this summer, and he admits a move to North London would be something he considers.

"If the time is right, it will come, but now Ajax is the most important thing," he told AT5.

"Therefore I expect that I can be watched in the ArenA after the winter break.

"Ajax is a very nice club. It won't be hard to play here all my life - but if I had to choose it have to be a nice club like Ajax again and there aren't many of them.

"But a club such as Arsenal or Tottenham. They are fantastic clubs and would be a step forward."

Reckon something's already going on? I think Verts might be doing a bit more behind the scenes than we think!
