Seem to remember Grayson spouting off before we played udders about how poorly he was backed at Leeds financially. Well, he's getting the backing now and he's certainly not setting the football world alight. Wonder do his fans still rate him as highly as they once did?
I still claim he is a good manager but a naive one as well. He's not proactive whatsoever and only sees things once its happened. I suppose that could and is more than likely down to lack of experience, we got rid of him at the right time for leeds united football club. Wasn't gonna get us to the prem anytime soon regardless of Bates imo but I do think he will be a good manager. They've just hit bad form, think they'll come back from it
He got promoted with a League One playoff team, a club that hadn't been at this level for a number of years (11 seasons i think) yet are 11 points above the relegation. Considering he lost their main man Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn, they are still level in the table with them. Beckford and Vaughan have both been injury prone and without those they are left with League One strikers (Lee and/or Novak). Suspensions have also cost them recently with Clayton and Southern missing they have no replacements of Championship standard. Smithies and Clarke are both League One and Lee Clark's expensive signing of Danny Ward is still failing to perform. Overall I'd say Huddersfield are finding themselves in the position they would expect based on how other playoff winners have done from League One, and will be delighted with the points they have got so far.
They win their next one and we lose and we are all equal on points again, Grayson had his faults and wasted the small amount of money he did have too often, Warnock could also be accused of being guilty of that, before the T/O the majority of his budget was used on Peltier who he then plays at LB
Grayson is doing alright he as again shown a profit on trading its not his fault he has the headless Ward who cost £1m£1 SHOULD BEbe more like it.Beckford and Vaugh have hardy plated together
The Udders were appalling yesterday, they looked every bit a bunch of League One cloggers. Reminded me of Leeds. ARF!
Grayson doesn't know how to set up a defense, so udders will be mid table only. Grayson needs to bring in a defensive coach who knows what he's doing, because we have witnessed appalling defensive systems all the way through his tenure at ER
Someone's got to show an interest in them. My cousin's unfortunate enough to support them so get a bit of info from him, plus there's an added incentive to keep an eye on their fortunes now with Grayson in charge.
Yet Leeds United 2008/09: under McAllister- Played 21, Conceded 29. Under Grayson Played 25, conceded 20. Very impressive turnaround, especially with 2 games played against runaway leaders Leicester. Leeds United 2009/10- Conceded 44, joint lowest in the division with Millwall, shame Kisnorbo was injured in March, would've probably been even lower. On arrival in the Championship we were fortunate Howson had come through the youth, Grayson found a bargain in Gradel and McAllister found Snodgrass and Johnson. So our lack of ability to attract top players under Bates wasn't an issue for our attacking ability. The defence unfortunately was made up of Championship rejects, however this slightly improved following the arrivals of O'Brien, McCartney and Lichaj at various stages of the season on loan. Going onto Grayson's final season at Leeds, he has stated how he wanted to sign Kaspars Gorkss from QPR. However he ended up at Reading (Champions) instead of Leeds. Disgusting we couldn't compete with Reading when the previous season we had the highest average attendance in the division (at the ridiculous prices we are all used to), numerous games on TV and 2 cup games against Arsenal. It's also worth noting that Neil Warnock's QPR side conceded just 32 goals in the season they won the league (lowest by 10 goals), yet this season with the "Bates budget", we have already conceded 35 goals, the same as Grayson's Huddersfield!
They didn't get much grief at all really, after the first ten minutes(when they hadn't actually touched the ball), their mob were all silent and looking shell-shocked, so we took pity on them. It didn't improve for them either, after 95 minutes they still hadn't managed a single shot.
