1. surely a wind-up, if not laughable 2. good manager but can he make the step-up in expectations 3. debated to death on here already 4. looks good on paper, his teams play well. But once again can he make the step-up? What if he is offered another job elsewhere with more transfer kitty?
Kyle, do you think that if the board give Wenger the money to buy the quality that we need, then he would be able buy the right 2-3 players that we need ? Surely this would be the most pragmatic approach, improve the squad, rather than create complete upheaval ?
I don't trust Wenger's judgement any more for transfers. I mean, the guy did sign Gervinho instead of Hazard, and refused to stump up 2 million extra for Juan Mata. In retrospect, they were complete ****ing disasters. If we gave him funds to sign the 2-3 players we need, instead of players we actually need, we'd get the usual from him. a couple of wingers and an attacking midfielder, who he'll play as a winger. Put someone sensible like Klopp in charge, the 3 players we'd get would be a DM, a striker and a replacement for Theo (a winger/striker hybrid).
Wenger handled the Montpelier game better than Bould did. Wenger lost to Olympiakos but I put that more on the B Team than him.
I think it's unfair to critisize AW for not landing Mata. Firstly we have no idea if there is any truth at all in us not getting the player over 2mil on transfer funds (i think its more likely that the wages Chelsea would offer we could not compete with). And secondly i'm pretty sure i saw a quote which basically said we tried to get Cazorla last summer - so could it be that actually Wenger was actually focusing on a different spaniard? The things your getting annoyed about and using against Wenger all seem like tabloid stories with no substance to them.
Exactly, there is plenty of evidence to bash Wenger with by just looking at some of our performances this season. No need to drag rubbish info from the gutter press and pricks like Stewart Robson.
The same criticisms are often levied against Dalglish at Liverpool; nothing to do with the fact that the player may want more money or challenge for more honours of course!
Well Arsenal are my 3rd team to be honest, in huge part because of Wenger and the players he brought to the club, the philosophy, style of football, the fact he sees through the media crap etc... But thanks for letting me get under your skin
Mate, Gervinho cost £8m and is on £60k, Hazard cost £32m! and is probably on £150k. Mata is probably on 3 times the amount that Arsenal could have offered him.
Stuart Robson is a bitter little **** stirrer. He's feeding his own negativity because Arsenal ****ed him off.
I've said it before, but I think Wenger has been operating with one hand tied behind his back. He's not faultless and he does try to stick to playing the same type of football, even when it's not working. But at least it's positive attacking stuff. I don't really want to see us turn into a park the bus or hoofball team. I strongly believe that with better quality in a few positions, Wenger's footie philosophy will be a force again. He hasn't become a **** manager all of a sudden.
Well i've bashed Wenger for the performances, but still the eternal optimists won't quit. There's optimism and there's delusion. Sadly, i fear A87 might have been right.
That have come from less than credible sources and are probably BS to fuel the negativity around the club.
We didn't have a shot on target until the 60th minute against Bradford. If that's positive attacking football, I'd hate to see us playing negatively. it's sad to say but Chelsea parking the plane, Mourinho style, would still offer more attacking threat than us.
Gervinho for 8 million is still insane. Gervinho for 8 pound would be a ripoff. I'd rather buy 3 packets of ***s than gervinho if i had £8, and i don't even smoke.
