Can't watch that about the shootings of those poor little kids. Unimaginable what their families must be going through. I'll turn back in a minute for MOTD.
It's finished now mate, you can turn it back. About the shootings? Awful, heartbreaking, no child should be taken like that, ever.
When the **** are the Yanks going to realise the right to bare arms is something from their past and no longer relevant. Especially automatic weapons.
No use, they will just be sold on the streets illegally, like they are over here. If someone wants a gun bad enough, they will get one, no matter what.
Sorry mate disagree, the guns were owned by his Mother who ended up at the wrong end of one. Dunblane, that nutter owned FOUR legal hand guns. Criminals will always find a way to acquire weapons. Nutters with a grudge would struggle.
Just as an aside I read earlier the lad involved wrecked his computer HD before heading out to do the killing. Was he a *****phile like Hamilton at Dunblane? It seems strange to me why he would have wrecked his HD what other reason could he have.
In the Dunblane case the police strongly opposed the license of the shooter. They were overuled as it breached his human rights as there was no "strong" evidence he could not be trusted.
they go on ****ing stupid about it! NRA was out at walmart campaigning by me today. Bloody childish imo.
But it will make it harder for some nut job to get one. Civilians should not have access to guns. America is living in the past and need to grow up. It's not cowboys and Indians anymore. Unfortunately the NRA are extremely rich and powerful right wing lobbyists, and will likely foil any gun law changes to better their own agenda. In fact it wouldn't suprise me if they used this horror to promote guns for kids - for their own protection.
very true! but less guns = less shootings . Pretty hard to argue with that. I see them in the mall , on gun racks in the back of trucks and in pawn shops every day. That nutter would have been shot and robbed had he been forced into the hood to get a gun. PLus the likely hood of that muppet having enough copin to buy a black market gun is zero to nothing. Supply and demand innit? A bank not to far from me was offering a free hunting rifle, when you opend a checking account. ( wasnt to long ago either maybe 2 years or so.)
Its a bit more complicated unfortunately than just banning guns. There are almost as many guns in America as there are people. How are you going to rein that back? Ask them all nicely to hand back their weapons? In countries like Israel and Switzerland, almost every household has a weapon, yet gun related crime is almost unheard of. It would appear, limiting the availability of weapons is not the simple answer many would have you believe it is. The problem is clearly much deeper than that and more to do with their attitude towards their use aswell as other social problems. It's not as simple as just banning as the right to bear arms is a constitutional right. It takes years to change their constitution and to be honest they are unlikely to ever go down that route. There are other inherent problems too, not least they border with two countries where they are readily available. A massively complicated issue, one I'm glad we don't really have to deal with on such a widespread scale.
just make them illegal! take the house car etc! guns are readily available in Canada, but they have very few gun deaths per capita compared to the usa. Weird. IM guessing that its the type of guns available here. seeing a m-16 in a pawn shop is not uncommon in my area.
You still have to change the constitution though to make it illegal? Can you honestly see it being pushed through? The majority of the population would be massively against it, not least because of all the guns in circulation. They've got themselves into a horribly vicious circle. Even if you did manage to make it illegal I don't think the population would hand them over and the logistical nightmare of taking them out of circulation by using the law is unimaginable. I honestly do not know how you get even close to resolving the problem now, they're ****ed! To be honest Canada is the lesser of the two issues, the Mexican black market is fruity shall we say!
It'll help but I think the economy guys would have something to say about all this too! Then even if it was able to sustain the hit, the black market then goes crazy. I'd love there to be a solution but its probably too far gone. They'll have to try the soft approach I fear of education and trying to change to a more responsible attitude. Good luck with that, they ****ing love them!
