i really dont want to comment about yesterdays result, I think we have just got to accept that in these early days we are going to have " bad day at the office" and accept it for what it is.

my main poiunt is, that now it is becoming more evident that DJ will be moving on (with Palace the new favourites to land him) i`m sure MM has got repacements in mind.

but as far as the supporters are concerned who would you like to see as a replacement striker ( bearing in mind that I dont believe RVP is available this January)

I think I'm right in thinking mick has made it no secret he wants to keep dj. Hopefully mr Evans will dig deep to keep him. He's obviously enjoying himself and been an integral part in our revival under mick. But as we know money talks. However Yorkiegit I'm at a loss immediately to think of decent, available strikers. Did you have any thoughts.

How about a Welsh international striker, who averaged not far short of a goal every other game, in the championship, and is tall and aggressive. Step forward Steve Morrison of Norwich. he rarely gets a first team game these days. Would hope there is childish talk that he plays for the enemy down the road, so what, Mick could easily sweet talk him to us. Would think he would jump at the chance of regular first team football, rather than warm up a canary bench.

    very interesting suggestion <ok>

a couple of things. first of all, i don't think he'd join a club near the foot of the championship table (no offence) because he could conceivably do a job for a few premier league clubs, but mainly, i really don't think we'll let him go unless a far better alternative is brought in during the window in january - and i mean someone who is going to put holty on the bench. he is a player who divides opinion, he's a marmite player - you either think he's got good quality or you think he's abysmal. fact is, he is somewhere inbetween. can be brilliant, totally unplayable on his day, but if his head goes down has to be carried by team mates. honestly, he's a good striker - not good enough for our first team on a regular basis but at a top-end championship club, he'd be a real handful and could be the difference between promotion or missing out. i think forest inquired about him but hughton firmly issued a 'hands-off'.

If he goes i'm not that bothered although he is a good player i don't see him as the long term answer.

I have been thinking for a while "we could do a lot worse than Steve Morrison" he has all the attributes we are in need of... Strong, powerful, goalscoring pedigree and can score a variety of goals. His days at Norwich are ultimately numbered but I doubt we will be in for him for a number of reasons.. 1 being money, another being his interest in playing at the highest standard available to him and the fact Norwich will look to keep him until they have strength in depth within their ranks.

I know Ebanks- Blake has been loosely mentioned with us (more guesswork from supporters in my view) but I would imagine he would be able to fill the void left by DJ better than most so I wouldn't be unhappy if we were to sign him, also I'm a big fan of Gary Madine at Sheffield Wednesday, he's big & powerful and only 21 but again I can't see us breaking the bank to sign him.. Which is probably what is needed to prize him away from Hillsborough

As for DJ even as an Ipswich fan I would probably still chose Palace above us at the minute, DJ is 31 and this could be his last major chance at the big time, also working with his close friend Ian Holloway. I would have no grudges whatever DJ did and I wish him well wherever he goes to play as he will be leaving us in a far better position than when he joined..

<laugh> gary madine will fit in a treat what with all his off-field shenanigans! ebanks-blake would be an interesting signing for you. i mean, he can't run anymore but he still knows where the back of the net is.
