He does get his team playing !! The possession rate is the highest of any team in the premiership. It is constantly at 60%-70%. The problem is that they just cannot score. They probably need to CREATE 10 good chances to score one goal. <ok>

this is going to sound silly, but hopefully make sense.

i would be more worried if we wasn't creating the chances to score, yes we should be putting more away than we are, and probably do need 10 chances to score 1 (not much dif to other teams to be honest) but with a bit of luck get a couple of strikers in or whatever we do or midfield start chipping in with goals the confidence will rise and players will start putting the chances away.

slightly separate but i remember Crouch couldn't hit a barn door when he first starting playing for us and when he scored his first goal (not sure how he got credited for that to be honest) the confidence grew and he starting scoring regularly.

there does seem to be confidence in the players, as we pass the ball around nicely and dominate most games, but for whatever reason get in the final 3rd and we turn to ****e.

I can see where you are coming from. However, I would be worried if after so many games, so much possession, so much of "playing well" like Rodgers said after the match, the wins are not coming or if they do come, they come in fits and starts.

If you lose when you are playing badly, then you could work on it. Isn't it worse if you lose when you are told you've played well??? <ok>

I think everyone associated with the club can recognize the main problem, and we have done since the start of last season. We have one fit striker on our books, so we're heavily relying on Suarez. Gerrard aside, Lucas and Allen won't get goals, Sterling is still young and I can't see him chipping in with a decent amount, same goes with Shelvey. So really we're just lacking goal threats.. And when it comes to the 60th minute, we have none to bring on, when you look at United they have Welbeck and Hernandez on the bench, City have Dzeko and Ballotelli.

In a way that explains why you do so badly at home.

If Liverpool play a team that is prepared to attack them (away from home), Suarez can stay up front and score.

At home, you have all the possesssion, and if the opposition is prepared to let you have the ball but then launch precsie counterattacks like Villa did yesterday you are in trouble. Getting more strikers is not necessarily the answer IMO.

I agree to an extent, our defense has actually looked a lot more sterner recently, and yesterday was our second defeat in 12 matches (the other being away to Spurs). Yesterday was a bad day at the office in my opinion, Villa were on a good run themselves and they were overly underestimated.

Goals change games, and when you look across the team apart from Suarez and maybe Gerrard you do wonder where the goals are going to come from, whether it's a case of getting more players in to the box, better delivery or better finishing or a mix of them all, something has to change. It's happened far too often for it to be a coincidence, but we create the chances, get in to the positions but fluff our lines.

Posession in itself is worthless. Under Rodgers Liverpool spend plenty of time on the ball knocking it sideways & backwards around the halfway line. They're not creating shed loads of clear cut opportunities. They're knocking the ball round & then running out of ideas in the fianl third, which leads to speculative efforts & half chances. For me they're very predictable in their play, only Suarez, Gerrard & occasionally Sterling, are offering anything that's not damned obvious to see coming, that's Rodgers problem imo.
