here is a link to the league managers association which has a list of all managers available who are out of the job. i believe higgs will go for this option and not pay compensation to another club. http://www.leaguemanagers.com/ scroll down to blue box which says 'respect'. just above that in a green box has a drop down menu for all available maangers. have a look to see who is free.
Starting from the point that things can hardly be worse I'd short term put Stewart and Walsh in charge, and I'd say goodbye to North. Walsh was highly regarded at City and has worked wonders with the U18s. If it works out for them we've got the situation sorted on our doorstep. Our situation in the league and recent record with managers is not going to make us an attractive prospect. We also need someone with a bit of credibility 'cos once again we've players who need motivating. Mellon, recently Fleetwood, might be one; and I'd like it to work out if Tillson came here.
Hmm Owen Coyle no chance . Gary Waddock has links to The Gas got Aldershot back into the league won promotion with Wycombe. Steve Cotterill is local done an excellent job at Cheltenham as we all know. Still not 100% sure a lot on the list we would never get so well I'll pick three from the list Gary Waddock, Steve Cotterill and Gary Megson.
current odds on skybet... Andy Tilson 5/1 Shaun North 5/1 Marcus Stewart 5/1 Steve Cotterill 7/1 Lawrie Sanchez 8/1 Paul Ince 10/1 Andy Scott 12/1 Chris Wilder 12/1 Phil Brown 16/1 Richard Money 16/1 Gary Megson 25/1 Andy Curbishly 33/1 http://www.skybet.com/football/manager-specials/event/14694965?action=GoRBSBetslip&bsnls=1&bsopen=1
The one's I wouldn't have are in red Andy Tilson 5/1 Shaun North 5/1 Marcus Stewart 5/1 Steve Cotterill 7/1 Lawrie Sanchez 8/1 Paul Ince 10/1 Andy Scott 12/1 Chris Wilder 12/1 Phil Brown 16/1 Richard Money 16/1 Gary Megson 25/1 Andy Curbishly 33/1
he was linked along with keith curle. MM wasnt even linked with us at all. keith curle looked favourite but then MM got it. curle then ended up at notts co and they are doing well in league 1.
If I was making a shortlist I would want to meet with: Alan Curbishley Billy Davies Paul Ince Roy Keane Alan Walsh (with John Ward as DoF) Steve Cotterill Josep Guardiola (with a DoF)!
I think it will be Tilson because he is the cheapest and most convenient option for the board and Nick Higgs will think he will have the measure of him which he didn't have with the other managers he's appointed. It's not the right reason for appointing a manager but it will be easy to blame Gasheads again if it goes wrong because we'll be told well you all wanted him because he was one of us. Managers like Cotterill and Curbishley would laugh about joining Rovers like O'Driscoll did when he saw what we were like.
Lets be honest, Owen Coyle would bring the style of football we'd like, but he has no need to drop down to our level and we haven't got the cash or gates to pay for him. I think we may have to look at getting a Trollope Lawrence arrangement rather than an outright boss again, seems ever since 2010 there's been rumblings that the players lack the passion for the club and respect for the fans and manager that was there before . . so maybe an ex player with drive, passion and ambition alongside an experienced DOF might be the way forward. Has Marcus got his badges yet?
****ing hell you will be lucky to get just 3 of them on that list filled in some answers on your list for you
this someone who can install passion to the players and those who cant be assed, new manager be allowed to get rid of these players and the guidance of a DOF will help with selecting the right new signings and help with tactics/training and pass on knowledge.
