Firstly, lets hope so. Heres the link: http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ewart-Downing-he-can-leave-Anfield-in-January We do need a left back for sure as well as a striker.
No brendon can leave for picking him and starting with sterling who has been ****e for the last 3 games.
Is Downing the biggest flop we've had? I know we can mention players like Dundee, Cheyrou & Konchesky. But at least they came on the cheap. £20 mil?? What were we thinking, should have told Villa to **** off for anything above £7mil
I'd say back, that whilst he cost a hell of a lot of money. At least he had games where he was very good, the games in the FA cup last years he was outstanding. Downing hasn't had a good game yet, his best has been average. Plus there is a possibility to recoup a chunk of the money for Carroll. Can't see us getting more than 4-5mil for Downing
But even if we let Downing leave for free we'd have to get £15m for Carroll for it to not be a bigger loss. I agree with you on performances though
I am pretty confident he will be off then. I'm sure the likes of QPR might be interested and have money. £7m-£10m probably lucky, but I'm optimistic.
I think the best option would be to send him on loan in January (preferably a premier league side) and see if he can get some games and put his price up then sell in The summer, I think you'd be lucky to get £5m for him at the moment.
We've done that before and the fat useless bugger came back after his loan year. If a loan was an option, I think we would have to insist on a agreed price at the end to ensure we got rid.
