Firstly, well done to the boys for getting that win. Will actually enjoy MOTD for a change! Secondly, apologies to the wife. She is going to get a good seeing to when she gets back from work. I don't care if she's tired. Thirdly, and to the point; how many points to stay up this season? I'm prepared to wager that the team in 17th gets away with a record low total...
I'm not going to lie to you Surrey, I don't like these threads. It could be anything from 30 - 40. If you manage a point per game over a season you're almost certain to stay up. Aim for 38 I say. (Sooper, did the Shammers not stay up with 33 under ZOLA?)
It's going to be a mad scramble, as the bottom 6 or 7 teams are starting to get well bunched up. We're going to need 40, I reckon
Possibly, but there's always a team that nose-dives in the last couple of months. It was Villa last season but they got away with it...
Last year with 10 games left I would have confidently said that 33 or 34 would be enough but it amazed me how many points all the teams at the bottom picked in the run in
So nice to wake up on a Sunday morning and find out we've won, we'll be safe on 41 points... I have faith...
I think the important thing will be taking three points off the other strugglers, even if we're away, something that is currently alien to us...
Swords; you're right. Maybe I phrased the title in the wrong way. My point was that I think this year will see the team in 17th finish with a very low total. Speculation as to total points is of course complete guesswork, and invariably wrong! Let's just enjoy today..
Not at all mate. If it starts a discussion, its all good. You could be right about a new lowest level. However, if you remember last season, the bottom 5 or 6 sides kept losing week in, week out and it looked nailed on that there would be a new low total. However, teams picked up form and in the end 37 was needed. If we can haul someone in to within around 3 or 4 points before the window opening, I'd be happy.
