The records above show that both teams are neck and neck so who on Saturday will take the lead. York City were promoted last season via the play offs beating Paul Buckles Luton Town 2-1  at Wembley they also won the FA Trophy beating Newport County 2-0 also at Wembley. This Season they find them self's in a position they would of taken at the start of the season currently sitting in 15th place and having only lost 6 games (the same amount Bradford have lost who are in the play offs) there still in with a shout of the play offs and are only behind 6pts behind Exeter who occupy 7th place. This will be another tough game for The Gas and York will be no pushovers as we found out against Dagenham last week. Please use the poll at the top of the page and vote for your score of the game and say who you thing will grab the goals <ok>
Here's hopping for a much needed win for The Gas and lets keep are fingers crossed we can pick up as many points over the festive season so we can all have a Merry Christmas.

I'm sticking to my prediction of a 2-2 draw. Eaves and Parkes to score for The Gas.

With footwork like that we should sign him up as a guide dog to lead some of our current team.

TEAM NEWS

York City recalled Jonathan Smith from his loan spell at Luton earlier in the week and he could come straight into the side.
Lanre Oyebanjo (hamstring) has not trained fully all week and Jon Challinor (neck) is also a doubt while Oli Johnson (groin) is definitely out.
Bristol Rovers will be looking to end their run of 10 games without a win.
Manager Mark McGhee has no new injury concerns and welcomes back midfielder Matthew Lund from suspension.

VIEWS FROM THE TRAINING GROUND

York City boss Gary Mills told BBC Radio York:
"It is down to Jonathan Smith now to show what he can do for this club. Hopefully he has got sharper and fitter while he has been away.
"We need to find a consistency because we've been hit and miss over the last few weeks but it's a learning process for a lot of my players.
"We need to not panic and start worrying if we haven't scored after 50 or 60 minutes and that is sometimes difficult at home.
"They need the three points and they'll come here and work very, very hard.
Bristol Rovers manager Mark McGhee told BBC Radio Bristol:
"York have a bit of height about them. They pass the ball a little bit but don't seem to be blessed with a huge amount of pace throughout the team.
"But they'll be dogged and determined. They'll look at our recent record and they'll fancy it.
"The last two back-to-back games have been the most disappointing losses.
"We've got to take on any positives and try and emphasise them"

mark looks ahead to Saturday

Mark McGhee says it is important to harness the disappointment of the last few games to get his team up for Saturday’s game against York.

The manager admits that the last two games have been particularly disappointing, but knows that he has to find any positives and take them into the next fixture.

He said: “My job is to see the positives, and there are positives. I know we can do better than we did on Saturday and we are trying hard to drag that sort of performance out of them.

“I don’t sense that they are demoralised in anyway, I think they are disappointed, and I have got to feed that disappointment to get them angry and aggressive and go out there and try and win a game.

“These were arguably the most disappointing two games back to back of all the games we have lost, because going into Wycombe we had a few back and we had renewed optimism and that has not translated onto results on the pitch.

“We have got to look at the Dagenham game and try and emphasise any positives there were from it.

“We have to pick the best team we possibly can from the players available, and put them out in a way that gives them the chance of winning the game.”

Mark admits that he is surprised by his team’s league position.

He said: “I never imagined in a million years that at any point this season we would be in the relegation zone, so it as big a shock to my system as it is to anyone else’s.

“It should make us embarrassed and more determined the get ourselves out of this position and make sure it is the last time we are in it this season.

“We have a chance on Saturday if we win we may get out of the relegation zone.

“We can only take one game at a time and I think Saturday will be a difficult game, but a game like any we go into – I think we can win it.”

Mark thinks that York will be up for the game, despite their recent poor form.

He said: “They are a side who play a 4-3-3 and they have a bit of height about them and pass the ball a bit.

“They don’t seem to be blessed with a huge amount of pace, but they will be dogged and determined, and they are at home.

“They will look at our recent form and fancy it, so we have to expect them to be up for it and confident.”

And with no injuries picked up last weekend, and the return of Matt Lund, the manager will have options.

“Everyone who was fit for Dagenham is fit and Matt Lund is available, which is a positive.

“Matt has had a terrific couple of months particularly in the right back position but also generally speaking.

“On Saturday he will be playing in midfield, as Danny Woodards will get better and better and fitter and fitter as games go on, so we can expect him to hold down the right back position.”

And Mark says that he has had bad periods in his managerial career so far, and the most important thing is to know what is going on and how to get out of it.

He said: “I have had periods where we have struggled in my career, and the most important thing is to know why things are happening, therefore you can address those things.

“I think we know why we are where we are, and we are clear in our minds how we can get out of it, and we are determined to do that. I hope the 20 odd years I have had in management will stand us in good stead.”

taken from the OS forum....

MM's comments on the OS about York....

“They are a side who play a 4-3-3 and they have a bit of height about them and pass the ball a bit. They don’t seem to be blessed with a huge amount of pace, but they will be dogged and determined, and they are at home.

Comment from a York fan:

"I can understand why Rovers are struggling. McGhee's pre match thoughts on our team are about as inaccurate as you could get. We have no height, we do have pace, and are far from dogged."

Looks like MM hasnt prepared then <doh> MM was only right about York being the home team <laugh>
