^ Very misleading title, but it's the title of the BBC article I swear. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20735575 Thoughts? This year is our year..
Good that we have some ambition; however the only chance we have of getting 2nd place is if everyone else stops playing!
Thoughts? Er...he's a mentalist or he secretly knows we're signing Konchesky and Heskey back to lead the charge up the table...konch-heskey...come on you reds
Love it, why not dream? 4th is an achievment and anything more would be brillant but if and I mean if the owners put their hands in their pockets and get us a striker then anything is possible.
Don't see why 4th isn't a realistic target. Think 2 Manchester clubs will occupy 1st and 2nd all season to be honest but no one else is being particulaly consister enough to say they are definite for 4th. Chelsea probably have a decent chance with a good manager and good squad, just a case of if RB can get them playing well. Who knows, football is a crazy game. A run of 4 or 5 wins now would put us well into top 4 and a couple if signing in Jan could give us the confidence & quality to remain there.
Although I think second place is way out of reach for any team other than the two Manchester clubs, it shows in a way that Rodgers is gaining belief in his squad and has belief that his methods and philosophy's are bedding in, or perhaps he's confident we can do some good business in January. Nothing wrong with a bit of ambition I guess.
2nd is, er, a little beyond us... No reason why we couldn't get 4th - just a shame that there's 7 other clubs within 4 points of it! Gonna be a close call come the end of the season, but we'll be in the mix, especially if we get another bloody striker.
I fear an influx of wums here soon! Its good to show the players that we have expectations and ambitions but to honestly think we are going to claw back an 11 pt deficit over City is laughable, even the 7pts we are behind Chelsea is highly unrealistic. There's a reason we are 11pts behind them; and that is cos their squad is miles better than ours. That pts margin is more likely to increase than decrease, still you have to have aims!!!
Exactly! This shows our decline over the last 20yrs, we're fecking settling I tell you. Suppose he said Everton were going to win it.....Rogers you b*stard! See if he thinks being runners up in cups is good enough he's going to get a P45 summer holiday....
Ambition is great accompanied by a soupson of reason. Don't run before you can walk. I do wonder how serious he was when he said it though. A tad tongue in cheek maybe? As a fan you can't help but love it when your manager bigs up the team a bit but I very much doubt he believes it anymore than we do eh
Man City might yet do a Chelsea. And Chelsea could do yet another Chelsea. Then all we need is Spurs to do a Spurs, Everton to do a reverse Everton, and Arsenal to not do an Arsenal and it's a clear run to 2nd place, at worst 4th, assuming West Brom doesn't do a Newcastle.
FFS. The teams presently in the top 4 are ALL ****e anyway so why not aim for it. I doubt Rodgers gives a **** what the media think or have to say. If he can get the best out of the squad and have them believe that it is possible then that's fine by me. At the end of the season, our position will depend upon the amount of points that we have amassed - end of
One thing all teams have in common this season - everyone is dropping points they shouldn't be dropping
