I was having a drink with a couple of me old mates today. We were talking about how the supporters now are very fickle and lose interest too easy. Compounded by a younger lad in our company who said he wasn't going to go again till we were on a winning streak. Talk about red rag to a bull we ****ing laced him. Same on here people talking about not turning up to support the lads unless we win this game or that game. FFS! We aren't Barcelona, take the bad with the good. I'm not one of these we should never boo your own team blokes. If the team plays **** boo them all you like, just be there the next time to see them improve. If they put a shift in and fail cheer the ****ers off. It's been a long time since I went away with the lads, but one of my mates who still travels, was saying he wished he could bring that away fans mentality to the stadium. He reminded me of the Norwich final game where we were all hoarse and had headaches but never stopped chanting. The lad who did this video got it spot on about the hairs on the back of the neck standing.
Sunderland FC is like family In the sense that although I may get angry and fall out now and again, I will always stand by them through thick and thin..
He did a canny job of the editing too. Any of the skunks viewing it will be having a **** over Gordon Armstrong with his shirt off. (Until Gatesy pops up and kills their boner. hahaha.) One of the comments on You Tube. "sorry but 1:24 has to be Jack Colback's dad" Hahahaha
Danny Blanchflower quote at 2.00 says it all really.
The packed terraces, the roar when the team ran out and the minute a Sunderland player got the ball and an attack was imminent - that was when the roar started, over the halfway line and the crescendo built. Priceless.
I was one of those 70,000 that day, great memories. My friends from London who watched it on tele all commented on the volume of the Sunderland fans, made all the more remarkable by the fact we'd lost. I think you're right, something has been lost from football. Burn all the ****ing seats
