Saw in a few papers that Fulham are in for Stekelenburg from Roma to replace Schwarzer. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...fers-maarten-stekelenburg-is-a-target-1488771 Leaves us to move in for Stockdale to the end of the season at least.
Interesting move this. As a regular watcher he was a relatively big money move to Roma but he's very prone to errors, bit like De Gea in his early days. He's tall and thin like him as well and the fans havent really taken to him. He recently lost his place either through injury or suspension (can't remember) and he hasnt managed to win it back as Roma have some good quality back-up and a big squad (they sold 45 players this summer and they still have a huge surplus) so not a surprise if they are willing to shift him on. I'd be dubious is I were a Fulham fan and there's better out there. Might just be the Dutch link with Jol here. Edit - I shouldve probably read the article before posting almost exactly the same synopsis.
Looks like Stockdale is one of a number of players that Fulham are binning. It was also rumoured that Martin Jol had said that Stockdale can leave just after he joined us. TWT as always, but yes good news.
So the concensus is that having Stockdale as a perm Number 1 would be a good move? We need stability there with a perm 1 and back up owned by us which we havent had since the Prem - which really is a ridiculous situation - but Im still in two minds about him to be honest. Last week's conceded goal was a worry....
Yes Stockdale is still young and will grow within the team IF he stays as a perm. Great news last night from Steve Bruce on James Chester and his contract. ""James Chester wants to stay here"" was the bit that impressed me most. Unlike many footballers, Chester is not just blinded by money and a quick fix. As for the Stockdale late goal last week. I shall give him the benefit of the doubt but Deeney did go in with his studs showing and the replays prove it. Why get hurt for the sake of it. The game was won and over so it did not matter. I actually blame the defence for being slow to react to the through ball. The only time they blundered imo.
Just watch Stockdale interview with Burnsy on Tiger player, and he said that this rumour that Fulham had transferred listed was a joke by someone on twitter. Anyhow he is happy to stay until the end of the season if the loan can be extended, and then see what happens.
