Pardew wants new 'Entertainers'

"Following the sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool on the last day of the January transfer window, Newcastle have continued to do well, but with winger Hatem Ben Arfa still struggling with injury, Pardew is desperate for some new signings in the summer who will inspire the fans.

"I think what we can say about this team is there’s no real stars in it," he told reporters.

"I think what they’ve done is have a real collective team bond that when a big game came around, like today, we’ve won.

"I think that’s a good trait to have. I think the next trait for us is to have a winning mentality and take that away from home.

"Now we need that three or four players that Newcastle are renowned for getting them off their seat.

"That’s probably what is missing and is what is going to take us beyond where we are at the moment.

"So that is the type of player we’re looking at and hopefully we can get one or two of those and add to what we’ve got."

Good to hear, also good to see Pardew spamming the papers with his vision to make sure everyone who needs to know, knows the aspiration is there. Just hoping it follows through.

Bit harsh saying there's no stars in our team, HBA, Tiote, Jonas, Colo and Enrique qualify as stars in my eyes. Also think this is a bit bullshit, as we all know we're not gonna get European quality players this summer as let's face it, who's Pardew gonna persuade to come and play alongside Shola/Best/Lovenkrands?

I think he means more technically gifted players, really on HBA and Jonas are very good in that department, however I agree, we do have some star players in the likes of Tiote and Jose.

 

They have forgotten the meaning of the word 'win'...

I hope we ARE looking at technically gifted players in the leagues aboard(Spain, Holland, France, Italy, etc). US fans deserve to be entertained by a brand of flowing yet mixed attacking football on the DECK, not the hoofball **** with the likes of Ameobi . Pardew wants players who can create something, who can give you that blockbuster ''pass'' or that flowing ''attacking Barca-esque'' move. We need that and deserve that!

Gamiero - Perfect striker for the technical role as the lone forward. Play off shoulders, pace, energetic, good dribbler, nippy and agile.
Dorrans/Holden - Technical box-to-box proven PL midfielders.

I think these words (Pardew's not HIAG's) suggest Pardew is concerned about Ben Arfa, that he might not be the same player he was and he might be a crock.

 

I do hope we get Gameiro, looks great. We won't get Holden or Dorrans, in to similar standard teams. Maybe you'd want Vargas...

Arfa's probably our best technical player. Such a gifted player.. it would be a waste!

 

The £20m we get when we sell Shola should fund the transfer fee for the likes of Gamiero and one other decent player.

 

Plus the £80m from when we sell Messi (part of the Shola deal obv!) after we play him and realise he just can't fill Shola's empty void!
