For me its simply "If Fit". But thats a big "IF" and arguably a stupid gamble in taking up a spot in the squad, especially with it being orc weakest area.

Sidibe is taking a spot in the squad and so that is surely a far bigger crime yet no-one seems to say anything about him??, Owen wont stay fit because TP wont play him, if he plays more regularly he will have a much better chance of staying fit. Waste of time signing him as TP isnt interested in playing him, what with TP banging Walters up the arse week in week out.

What Owen must think when he is sitting on the bench watching Walters run around like a headless chicken God only knows.

Just read that Pulis says Owen is still a couple of weeks away from being fit enough to be considered for a first team starting place..... so my hopes of him being selected on Saturday against Everton are completely dashed. 2013 at the earliest then! What is going on?

I've gone for if fit. He did the job in the games he played for united, although that could be a little deceptive, given the quality he had playing behind him. But I think he could still bang 'em in by doing the same as I remember Shearer saying about Berbatov at the start of the season, imagine another 18 yard box on the edge of the box, and stay in there! Don't bother going wide or deep looking for the ball, wait for the chances to come, and put 'em away.

I can talk all day about Mamba mate, enough to make me climb the walls! I didnt think he had been named in the 25 man squad and had gone out on loan?

I also thought Mama was out on loan? And I've said YES I think Owen is good enough,
Alas poor Smither's that twas the question.. he he.

Seriously, I honestly think he is. My problem is with Pulis in so much as.. he needs game time to get fit.. played 70odd mins this week.
OK not at Prem standard but, it's like riding a bike, you never forget and (should) Owen get a few chances come his way.

I would rather it be Owen than Walter's, Jones etc. Jerome IMO should start IF Owen isn't fit to. He has pace and right now from what I've read on here recently, not having seen our last few games. Jerome looks the most likely.

Yeah, Mama is on loan, and so not in the 25. Hopefully he can knock a couple in and make it a permanent move. Though it was frustrainig all the time we kept him in the squad, I think this is what "the club" wanted for him, rather than just dropping him as a free. If it wasn't for Fuller going about stamping on people and not turning up for training, I reckon we'd have done the same for him too, Pulis seems to like looking after players that have the right attitude and work 'aard like Mama. Not the best way to run a club, but it's a nice idea.

I meant last year, Sidibe had torn is achilles (I think), and even though he was out for the season he was still named in the 25 man squad, very strange decision for me......... My point is that a lot worse players in the past and even now are taking spots in the squad and it winds me up. It just seems a bit strange to me for people to think that Michael Owen is WASTING a place in the squad Delap, Whitehead, Shotton and Wilkinson IMO would not get into any other premiership squad. When you see players like N'Zonzi on the pitch you realise just how poor the 4 players ive mentioned are. I would rather have a MIchael Owen that plays only 6 games a season to a Walters who plays every game (and Owen would probably score more).

Football is all about opinions and these are just mine, maybe im wrong who knows?, the only thing that matters is that we get 3 points tomorrow.

    UTPssssssssssssssss

Yeah, I remember what you mean now Ricc, wasn't quite the whole season, but it was a daft decision, didn't see him getting a game if he had have been fit anyway. See your point about other players, I think apart from Delap, the other 3 (individually) could get in other teams squads, but I don't know that it'd be the SAME squad, most teams have 1 or 2 weaker players, not usually 4...

Yeh I agree 100% mate. I understand that technically Owen has more potential in his little finger (If Fit) than alot of palyers in our squad, my point was that if TP never had any intention of playing him, or we had any inclination that his fitness would be this bad then why sign him? Its just a waste of wages and a waste of place that could have gone to a youth player.

Yeah, I just hope that we get to see a lot more of him, and not Just as a sub.. I am surprised by how little TP has used him though.
