I reckon Martin Kelly could be better than Williams already any way. I can see him doing Agger's kind of role in the future.

If we sign one striker in January, another will be needed in the summer I feel.

Which free transfer would you prefer?

    Llorente (29) or Walcott (23).

If Walcott wasn't so hell bent on playing soley as a striker I would possibly say Both. But the 20 mil you spend on Llorente would be worth it, but the 16+ you could spend on Walcott, you could probably just about get Sanchez for that or someone of a similar quality.

Throw Wisdom and Coates in there as well and I can't see why we'd go for Williams <ok>

As for the question about free transfers I'd say Llorente (esp if we do buy Sturridge).

His contract runs out in the summer too. I think most would take him over Llorente or Walcott <ok>

    Maybe, Maybe.

But Walcott is quite a bit younger.

  11. Cavani...?
    Llorente...?
    Huntelaar...?

If we are going for a fantasy signing then look no further than Neymar <doh>

In reality, RHC will unfortunately be right <doh>

Huntelaar & Llorente are hardly fantasy signings. Neymar & Cavani would be, but not Llorente & Huntelaar.

be nice even if we haven't a chance of those players that we at least try, esp as Huntelaar is not suppose to be that much, not sure on Llorente what he is worth, nothing to lose never know.

if nothing else it shows intent by the owners to the fans, and also other players who might be taking an interest in what's going on here, as i should imagine there will be a few.

another thing is it will show our current squad the type of players we want and they will have to raise their game if they want to remain here, or in Sterlings case sign a damn contract lol, be seriously peeved if he goes to manure, but he needs to see some sort of intent to where we want to be heading, and signing just good players will it be good enough to get us top 4? who knows.

hope i am proved wrong with players like Sturridge,Walcott etc,but we should be raising the bar more than buying players like Crouch,Pennant,Cisse type players we have got used to buying, and to me that's what Sturridge and Walcott are, hope i am wrong IF we sign them.

I'm not having the stuff about players not wanting to come to us because of where we are in the league currently or where we finished last season. It didn't deter Suarez from signing for us when we were 12th at the start of January when negotiations started between us & Ajax. It didn't stop Cabaye leaving the French champions for mid table Newcastle. Or Pablo Hernandez leaving a club that's finished 3rd in La Liga in most seasons (Valencia) for Swansea. Or Gaston Ramirez joining a newly promoted side.

What exactly does our manager want? I think like every other manager he wants talented players who can win games and score goals. Huntelaar & Llorente are capable of both and shown that throughout their career. Do I think we'll get them? No, but they aren't as unrealistic as Cavani and Neymar because they aren't as desired around Europe for a number of reasons and obviously there will be no fee so they'd be much more realistic than the £40m+ Cavani's & Neymar's of this world.

What is our transfer policy? Doesn't seem set in stone

There is some sort of focus on younger players, but thats what everyone aims to do, the transfer policy didn't stop us signing Downing, Doni & Bellamy under Dalglish who were all quite old at the time of signing. And it didn't stop us trying to sign Dempsey in the summer. The transfer policy seems extremely flexible going by our previous targets & transfers under FSG.
