Fair play mate Listen I won't be complaining if he does well for us, no one will. Its easy for me to sit here and say he's ****e and to a certain extent easy for others to be overly optimistic. I just think the next two transfer windows are vital for BR and I'm hoping he gets more right than wrong If Sturridge is pulling on a Red shirt in Jan I'll cheer him on as I do with every lad who plays for us As much as I don't trust stats (prefer my eyes to any stats) they do stack up pretty well. As always...time will tell.
This is the thing, considering where we are at the moment. Any change we make is going to be incremental - there isn't one single event or player that will suddenly turn us into an all-conquering side - it's going to be a slow process, based on making small calculated changes at defined points in time. Brendan has been in charge for 4 months. I think considering where we were after the whole Hodgson/Kenny fiasco, to be only 4 points off 4th place is remarkable
I was quite suprised with the stats as well! I agree that we need to make every transfer count, find value in every £ we spend etc etc. £18m for Ince and Sturridge - I think this isn't a question of whether or not they can improve the squad quality as I believe they can and will. It's more of a case of whether £18m can be better spent and still achieve the same level of quality.
Or achieve a higher level of quality? Personally I think it shows up how desperately our scouting system needed an overhaul. Anyway hopefully with BR already knowing Sturridge then he can get him up and firing quickly (if we do buy him).
Does Rodgers know him already? I had a thought last night. Rodgers like his wide men to be left foot on the right, right foot on the left, but the role is pretty much the same. I believe Ince is left footed but can also play in the middle. Ince on the right, Sterling left, Suarez middle, Suso behind. In a few years time.
We could make the champs league if we sign a decent striker in Jan and for me Sturridge does not cut it, buying him for me would be a waste. Not really pushed about Ince, he looks good in the champ is about all that can be said for him at the moment.
Possibly not actually. I thought Chelsea signed Sturridge when Rodgers was reserve team manager there but he'd probably already left for Watford by then
Sadly our scouting team has jut had an overhaul I don't know how much contribution they'd have with these signings though, as they weren't here back in August and we were interested in Sturridge then.
Tello has signed an extension to his contract until 2016. Interesting thing is that there is a buyout clause of €10m ... Surely, if Barca didn't want to sell him, they would have put a ridiculously higher clause in? ...
Yes, but Cavani would (IMHO) score the goals to take us up to 4th and displace our distant cousins from across the park into the bargain. At £30mil he'd be a snip, given the CL revenue, plus the booty for finishing 4th as opposed to 8th...
Mate, I'm with you there, but I didn't write the headline and it is on the LiverpoolFc Website. Admittedly just a fan blog, but it would be a wonderful signing and one that would, given the number of chances we create, deliver a finisher that the team has been looking for - 60 goals in 83 league appearances is a great record, and its not in the dutch league, so it actually counts for something...
Ashley Williams linked? Hell no after what he said about Suarez. He wasnt just unprofessional with his comments, but it doesnt paint a good picture of his attitude as a person in general. Plus we could get better for a smaller fee.
