I'm not clutching at anything mate, i'm trying to point out that a player that was loved by all at the Cottage didn't feel the same way about your club or you the supporters, your club gave him the chance to stay after there was no move to LFC but he still chose to leave and that tells its own story.
If that was what you were trying to say then why did you bring up Jaap Stam, Fergie and buying Berbatov? The story that tells was that he refused to play, and when his move to your lot was scuppered he'd made his bed and had to lie in it. Don't try and tell me he would, at any point, have felt right about playing for us again!
Now I realise that comprehension is for some a very hard task - O level and GCSE English results prove that. Therefore, I will take you slowly through the errors in your assertions: Firstly Fulham's withdrawl. All you have done in your highlighted text is to repeat Fulham's CLAIM. As it has never been tested then it cannot be anything but a claim. The conversation between Werner and Al Fayed. No transcript of this conversation has been released by either side and therefore all we can work on is a one-sided recollection of what was said. The words that you highlight may have been said but we are not given the context in which they were said and therefore it is merely an impresion as to what they refer. The letter. Again, Fulham have not released the full text and therefore neither you nor I can even begin to to be certain as to what LFC believe was unacceptable. You really must learn to read what is actually there and not some spin that you or your club may wish to place upon it. As for our future. We are not falling (we'll leave that to others) we are on a commited course of action to take us to the position that we belong - at the very top. So yes we can still swagger as we know we are going in the right direction to a place that Fulham have never been and will never achieve.
Are you saying that players that want out don't get a 2nd chance if things fall through? Wayne Rooney asked for a way out of the biggest club in the world, yet he ended up staying and got a huge payrise and a promise of success. Dempsey obviously thought he was worth more wages than he was getting and his agent was touting him around on the quiet.
Which is what I have done, and I've shown you as much. You clearly don't understand. But that's ok, tomorrow there will be uproar as Werner will be objecting and saying he didn't apologise for any such thing, and that we're "putting a spin" on things, right? Because if not, you're going to look even sillier than you do now. But oh wait, look at C58's post... "Committed course of action to where you belong" - yep, midtable mediocrity. Welcome, take a seat, enjoy the view. I do hate the overuse the term "delusional" but it really is quite apt in your case. No, why? I said Demps wouldn't have felt right playing for a club he was so desperate to leave. Classic scouser, Man Utd on the brain! Stevie G did the same, footballers have no loyalty etc, what's your point? We're not Man Utd and Dempsey certainly isn't Rooney. We did offer him a bumper pay packet anyway, I daresay Spurs offered him more. Dempsey had his head turned by Liverpool. His agent probably didn't help matters though, I agree.
So if his agent was the main 'ingredient' between the player and prospective buyers behind the scenes who 'turned his head'?, he got what he wanted, a move away and a bigger pay packet end of, unless you know different.
Source? Then again, if Fulham did not release the content of the letter then who did. But just like Bidley you must learn to actually read what is said. There is no way from that 'quote' that you can discern the specific that Ayre is referring to. You may want it to mean something but it's still not proven.
You haven't shown anything, you have assumed! Logic is obviously not your strongest suit. let's leave it there.
I'm going on what's been said by our club, as yours hasn't said any different. Until they do say different (and they will if things are) then that is how it is. You are the one assuming! Unbelievable!
You're trying to put words into my mouth Dave. I made no attempt to interpret Mr Ayres' statement. Anyway, whatever the 'actions in the summer' were, the fact is that he was instructed by the owner's of Liverpool to write and apologise. EDIT: I have just read today's Liverpool Echo article which is quite clear on the facts. Here it is if you haven't yet read it : http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/other-sports/2012/12/13/100252-32417578/
I think the facts speak for themselves: they did wrong and now have apologised; unfortuantely Fulham (and to some extent Clint) got caught-out by Liverpool's action, including that they tried to skimp on the price at the end. Although the lack of loyalty and role of agents/intermediaries just then muddies the waters. Pity really, I used to like Liverpool as a well-run club, but their lack of good governance may just reinforce their depressing drift into mid-table obscurity.
