You canny seriously think that not having enough seats in a stadium is cheating.

While you say Gretna had the upper hand surely you notice that them not playing at home would've been massively financially devastating for them.

    In fact it was.

The way their whole club was funded and run was financially devastating for them eventually.

Like I say, my St Mirren supporting mates maintain that St Mirren upgrading Love St almost bust them - they had to seat the whole ground to get into the SPL - as a result, they weren't able to buy players as good as, say, Gretna, bought.

The Buddies were in the red right up until Tesco bailed them out with the new stadium to stop Sainsbury's getting a town centre plot.

Most St Mirren fans (and Falkirk fans too, I'll bet) were beeling that some teams (it wasn't just Gretna, I can't remember who else) ignored the rules and went about trying to win the First Division then worried about the stadia rules afterwards.

I didn't outright call it cheating but it didn't seem fair.

Ironically, St Mirren's new ground wouldn't have fitted the criteria of the time as I think it's capacity is under 10,000 (I think they've relaxed this rule now - don't know off the top of my head).

The point I was making was that breaking the rules doesn't always equate to cheating and I don't believe Rangers cheated when Whyte withheld PAYE, I think he just prolonged the life of the company by a few months.

I know the point you were making. You were indulging in a spot of whataboutery to make yourself feel better about Rangers cheating. As I said, there is a difference between failing to comply with regulations and deliberately flaunting them. The point is that Gretna didn't play their games in Gretna, they played elsewhere to avoid breaching that regulation. Rangers did breach the footballing regulations concerning the payment of tax. They did so deliberately in an act that was described as the only act worse being match fixing. By that rationale anything other than much fixing is fair game. Failure to abide by the rules is one thing. Deliberately gaining an advantage over all of your rivals through unfair means is of course cheating.

    Trebors hackneyed defence mechanism

The first x responses are from Timmy, obsessed, comfort blanket.... No danger of a response to the points raised though.

Gotcha, you don't agree that gaining an unfair advantage over every one of your opponents by failing to adhere to the laws of the land and of the game constitutes cheating but aren't prepared to reveal why.

Furthermore they signed David 'Healy, Salim Kerkar, Sasa Papac, Andrew Little and David Weir to new deals in the summer of 2011 along with improved contracts to Whitaker and McGregor. They also rejected an imaginary bid of £9m for Jelavic.

They re-signed that Bartley from Arsenal on loan and even paid a fee to do it.
They paid fees for Juan Manuel Ortiz, Lee Wallace, Bedoya, Bocanegra, Merv Sellick, Matt McKay and even Sone Aluko..... and of course lets not forget the final ever signing Mervan Celik.

In their final ever transfer window they spent more money in transfer fees than they recouped.

Every one of these players was paid with money earmarked for the taxman. How do I know this? Because these players got paid and the tax man didn't.

The long and the short of it is that Rangers went around signing players to new and improved contracts to the players they wanted without ever intending to pay the tax man. Something every other club in the country had to do.

So tell me again how Rangers gained no sporting advantage <doh>

Tell me ******s (plural to include webel) - what did this so called advantage give to rangers last season? what success did it contribute to, thus making it an advantage.

So in dumbfuck Willis land you have to succeed for your cheating to warrant discussion.

Please **** off you tiny brained simpleton<ok>

Rangers finished the season ahead of ten other clubs that played by the rules.

It's just been explained by both of us, the fact that you have gone straight to insult unprompted shows you have no answer but straight denial of the facts.

By the way you are either stoned or showing your true colours now because there is no need for sectarian insults, i'm many things and I have many faults but I never use language like that because it's not in my nature. It's ****ing appalling.

Show me where rangers have been found guilty of using an unfair advantage.

Dev the day I give a **** about the way you see me would be a very sad day indeed. The fact is I don't buy into your bullshit and if I choose to insult you for acting like nothing more than an argumentative child then go cry on someone elses shoulder, because I really couldn't give a ****.

Again, both of you, show me the official statement that says rangers cheated.
