I have seen enough of Southampton to conclude that they have the worst defense in the division. I'm not arguing that you've had a good run of results recently.

Chelsea have let in 5 in 6 in the PL, we've let in 4 in 6. Our defence is awful!

Have you seen any of the last 6 games?

Can you name our current back four off the top of your head without cheating?

You appear to be plucking things out of the air.

He's a Chelsea fan, therefore I can conclude he knows nothing about football.

Hilarious. Did you think of that all by yourself?

I asked two questions, you have only given one answer.

With a settled back four, Shaw replacing Fox and Jack Cork in a defensive midfield - Southampton simply aren't as open as they were early in the season. 4 goals in last 6 games compared to 28 in first 10 games highlights this.

I'm not entirely sure what you are basing your "Saints have the worst defence in the Premier League" on apart from the conceded column in the league table, and as I've highlighted - things are very different now. In fact a lot of teams are very close to overtaking Saints for most goals conceded.

Well considering I could name your current back four it answered both questions in my mind.

No it doesn't, the second question was about you seeing the previous 6 games. You have yet to answer that question. Nor have you responded to my other points in post #108.

I have seen you in your last six games and ive seen u in the 10 before that. Your defense is the worst ive seen out of any in the prem. You can highlight these 6 games all you want but 6 games is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Your defense "will" start leaking goals again soon.

So you went to St Mary's for the wins against Newcastle 2-0 and Reading 1-0 - two clean sheets?

So you went to St Mary's for the 1-1 draws against Norwich and Swansea?

So you went to Loftus Road for the 3-1 win over QPR?

So you went to Anfield for the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool?

Or did you watch brief highlights of us conceding a mere 4 goals in those 6 games on Sky and/or the BBC like your average ill-informed armchair fan?

I went to 5 of those 6 games and witnessed them first hand and our defence is comfortably better than a number of others in the Premier League and the attack is still scoring.

Key factors to the defensive improvement are Luke Shaw replacing Danny Fox at left back and Jack Cork as a defensive midfielder after missing most of the start of the season through injury. Also the settled back four is now gelling, which is why we are conceding less.

Our defence is poor, there is no getting away from that. But it has improved vastly in recent weeks. The likes of Ba, Cisse, Suarez, Michu and Holt all failed to score past it. In fact, goalie mistakes aside, only Agger has scored past us since WBA away.

Cork's return to injury and Shaw's introduction to side, together with Clyne and Yoshida having more games under their belts in their new team and Fonte in his new league, have all greatly helped this. Unless you watch us first hand, every game, you just wont appreciate how much Cork and Shaw have helped.

Of course when the Utd's and City's and the Chelsea's come to town, the goals will start to be shipped again. But a) I'd expect us to strengthen the defence in January (we've proven we have money to spend), and b) who cares what you do against the big sides? Lose 1-0 or lose 6-0, it's still a defeat. Ok it might, just might cost us survivial should it come down GD, but I'm happy to take that chance. It's all about what we do against the sides around us and so far. Those matches keep you up, as they are (just) doing at present.

    Wigan: two goals conceded
    Villa: one goal conceded
    QPR: one goal conceded
    Newcastle: no goals conceded
    Reading: no goals conceded

    I'll take that thanks.

Since bringing Shaw in and getting Cork back, it's not looked too shabby.
