All seem to be getting a bit confident. Take a look at you own fixtures, us, Stoke, Fulham and then two hard home games. Might not get to many points out of next 5 youselves. ..
I must admit, while we are just one weekend off going back into the bottom three, I'll not be shouting the odds about. It can change oh so quickly in this league.
Difference is we are confident we can score against anyone and have proved it. Improve the defence in the window and we will be fine!
Must admit I wanted to shut the fans up on Saturday when they started singing 'You are going down with the Redknapps' as soon as we scored a goal. Hubris and all that. I think we just feel confident that we are now finding our feet and will be alright in the end...though I would not be surprised to end up back in bottom three at some point.
Guthrie been fined by Reading for refusing to travel to Sunderland. Not the kind of player teams would want surely.
Bottom 6/7 tend to win on average every 6/7 games so every win is vital. We SAFC are just starting to get it together. Played OK V WBA, Chelsea, Fulham, Reading and Norwich recently. Anyway for what it,s worth cant see QPR and Reading staying up.Wigan may go but hope its Villa.
We've lost 1 in 6 games, but 2 were draws we should have won (Norwich, Swansea). We play nice football...have to improve the defence (which we seem to have done). Every team has good and poor spells...have to get points while we can. I want to be 5-6 points above 18th which gives you a bit of leeway. We escaped once before and then dropped back in 48 hr, though at least we kept it close.
Southampton have a weaker team than most of those who they will be fighting relegation against. Aston Villa are the team you're lot will be up against as they have a weak squad as well. Come the business end I think the pressure will get to your lot and considering how bad your defense is I see you capitulating in crucial matches
Our defence has improved a lot recently, saying that we'll make a couple of mistakes in our next game!
Seen a lot of us recently have you? 16 Premier League games played... - First 10 games, Saints conceded 28 goals and picked up 4 points - Last 6 games, Saints conceded 4 goals and picked up 11 points We are alot more solid at the back now, still scoring goals and I wouldn't write us off as easily as you just have.
Your last 6 games were against some of the weakest sides in the league so that's why your defense has seemed to improve. It won't last, your defense remains the weakest in the prem which is why I think you will go down. You just don't have the quality of player in defense needed. You would need to buy good defenders in jan or your lot will have little hope.
It is against sides such as those that we need to pick up points from. 11 points from 6 games is a very good return, only 4 conceded is also very good. I doubt you have seen us play much (if at all) to make the conclusions you have. Have you? Norwich Liverpool Swansea Newcastle Reading QPR Were our last 6 games, 11 points, 4 goals conceded. Maintain the level of performance in those games and we'll be more than fine this season. Plus as we showed in the summer with a £30m+ net spend (7th largest in Europe), we have the resources to strengthen if required. Can the same be said of our rivals in January?
Of the bottom eight, only two have allowed less than a goal per game in their contests against the six teams mentioned: Southampton and Villa. There's no doubt that it was a weak part of our schedule, but four goals surrendered in six still constitutes a good defensive record against that competition.
