It's that time of year again, some may think that I'm a grumpy moaning bastard at times but I love Christmas. Over the Christmas period we have games against...... 15 Aston Villa (H) 22 Fulham (H) 26 Stoke City (A) 29 QPR (A) So what do you love/hate about this time of year? What will you be doing? What presents are you hoping that Santa will bring? There's even a poll, because everyone love a poll. Lets have a good one.
i have a 2yrd old and 6yr old girls so even if (i dont lol) hate xmas have to make effort for them. i was brought up xmas is for the kids new year is for the adults. love xmas the idea, but hate the f ing hype and guilt factor as a parent you feel you need to spend lots of money as everyone elses kids are getting new laptops etc. not a grumpy old fart as well but it is one big hyped up con, but as long as my kids love it and puts a smile on their face all good. my 2yrd old had a snowman play type thing this morning where she was a star, its that type of thing i love about xmas, the family spirit and good will that seems to be non existent the rest of the year lol
For Christian Smith a brand new straight jacket with a huge liverbird emblem on it. For HIAG a festive bitter lemon to suck For our new Everton friends an easy to follow guide back to their board For luvgonzo some skis and a wooly hat because life's all downhill after 40 Merry Christmas
Can't stand it People being pressured into doing things they don't want to do, having to spend time with people they avoid throughout the year, every c**t you meet wishing you a Happy Xmas when they don't really mean it. Wracking your brains for the "perfect" present, only to find out a) someone else bought them the same thing, b) they don't like it c) they've already got one It seems to start earlier & earlier every year But above all that, it's a complete mishmash of traditions, taken from various European cultures from across the centuries, all packaged up & homogenised for Western consumption & hyped up beyond belief, simply to get you to part with your hard earned cash and make retailers more & more money. And don't get me started on the "Religious" aspect!
Salvation Army can **** right off over here. Sit out every store banging a bell for hours for money for the needy. What about the rest of the year? Don't give me that spiteful look when I probably do more for charity and the unfortunate than you do during the month of December. Everything else is cool though. More about family for me, moms side go crazy over the nativity and all that. All part and parcel I say!
I like to spread the Christmas message by furiously shaking several tubs of Pringles, and then putting them back on the shop shelf.
Hate the hype leading up to the day. Hate buying for people in an age (luckily) where everyone pretty much has everything. The Internet has allowed me to avoid my worst nightmare of stranger wrestling: commonly known as Christmas shopping. Love the day itself; pressies no longer really interest me but Love open fire still going from Night before, all the smells of food cooked or cooking, couple of glasses of fizz to start it all off! & then feeling dozy like a lion after a fat juicy Zebra by evening. Boxing Day is my favourite though: big cold cut & salady etc buffet style lunch then out to the pub with the lads to play in the local annual pool competition, with football on the big screen and beer after beer in hand, waiting to lose my bet lol. Despise New Years Eve: manufactured happiness on par with Valentines Day in its consistent failure to live up to the hype.
Got married on Boxing day many moons ago, so don't like this time of year, too many painful memories!
We are quite an active family throughout the year and tend to rush from one kids club to the next, over Christmas we all just sit around, chill enjoy the food and a few drinks. And there's a Corrie Christmas special of course.
This Christmas I will be mostly drinking Rum and Ginger Beer over ice with a squeeze of lime. Top tipple for xmas.
I hope for that all the time, but in Memphis it is just not cold enough and rarely snows. :/ Cincinnati doesnt get that kind of cold and snow until January/February.
It just makes it more Christmasy!!! The heat in the summer is fine, but when you are playing in 105F heat on Turf mate, it can get pretty brutal.
