Reading, it has to be said are one of the poorest teams I've seen at the SOL in many a year and I think their poorness effected our game a tad as although we won without breaking sweat, it was also done at a hat canter and with very little drama. We never quite got going in a games we were never going to lose but we scored 3 and kept a clean sheet so there is a lot to be happy with. What do we know after tonight? We know Danny Rose is class and simply HAS to be bought permanently. We know Steven Fletcher is class and already has gained in value from the summer - does ANYONE seriously even mention his fee these days? We know Simon Mignolet is one of the top keepers in the league, as he had bugger all to do tonight but pulled of a world class point blank save at 2-0, that could have easily been a tricky last 5 mins which secured the points. We know that we can win games against 11 men We have a manager that can handle the pressure We have an owner that can handle the pressure Oh and we know the referee was an utter clueless, useless ****er in allowing Reading to continually hack down Rose, Johnson and Fletcher all night without a booking until the damage was done. Bardsley also looks like he is going to be out for a while (I've heard all season) and Rose and Johnson for the weekend. That's not good and our squad isn't big enough to cope with too many long term losses to it. Anyway we shall see. 3 points tonight were the demand and 3 points have been delivered. We move up to 15th and although the fight inst over, we looked a side that has enough in its locker to easily get out of trouble and climb the league. WBA are in 6th place and only 10 points away. That should be out focus for the next 5 months, not the bottom half.
I'm just over the fecking moon. Forget about quality, the right pass, only playing when you are behind, the things that pleased me the most was 1. McClean - ran his heart out and deserved his goal. 2. Fletcher - class. 3. Rose - class. 4. Sess - class. 5.Believe it or not Bramble - towering figure in defence when he came on. I'm not getting carried away as in this league small things change games so quickly but tonight we did what was needed but still need to stay calm over the next few weeks as IMO in MON we do have the best man we could hope for and he needs time to build the team he wants which WILL take time.
Totally agree with everything you have said mate, especially the manager and owner who can handle pressure. Up until last night a lot of our fans (including myself) were very worried and stressed at our situation in the bottom 3 and all sorts of panic and "were going down" threads and statements appear BUT MON on telly never appeared flustered or willing to accept we were in trouble, he was ever defiant and adamant he is the man for the job and will pull it around, so refreshing to hear he wont give up on our club and will fight for us with everything he has! Haway MON, FTMMMM!!!!!!!
O'neil on tv was ready to kick the interviewers face in after asking if he doubted himself looking at his face and tone of voice haha!
I honestly though he was going to uppercut the guy when he asked if he doubted himself! haha Just glad we have a strong man at the helm who will fight for our club and not give in when times are tough.
MoN is a class act. Always has been and always will be. We are extremely lucky to have an experienced, committed and fiery manager at the club who still retains all the passion required to manage up here, despite his age. If we can get another 3 or 4 years out of Martin, the club will be in a fantastic place imo. Roll on Old Trafford and whatever that brings. If we do get anything I'll be amazed and delighted but my faith in the manager will never waiver.
