hope it messes up their league form who has played well tonight - for me, Morrison and Howson. good to see howson play well
Glad we are out tbh. Would have preferred to of lost to a different club but will gladly take 3 points off them later in the season instead.
1 - 4 now! Well, I have to say with Chelsea still in the cup and Arsenal just equalizing against Bradford chances are we wouldn't have won the cup anyway, I am usually very cautious but I really thought we would beat Villa at home. Well, we played pretty much the strongest team we could, we just didn't take our chances like Villa did it is hard to say we were actually bad. Well fingers crossed I'll be at the Wigan game so I'll hope for a better result then.
Well, Aston Villa been the better side, but it has been pretty close. As I said Steve Morison could of had four goals, but Villa missed a lot of chances too.
since tettey has been out, we've conceeded 8 in two games - no coicendence. hope he is back on sat and Bennett or Turner
Why does someone always have to be at fault for a goal? Frankly, Villa outplayed us and won deservedly. And footballers are humans and humans make mistakes. These 'sudden defensive frailties' you speak of seem a bit of an overreaction, it's standard that as we desperately chased the game we left ourselves open and Villa punished us.
its a shame, but its no biggy. More focus on our unbeaten league run now. I can't feel too bad about it, we had a bit of a wonky defence, which suggests we were interested in a semi if it fell for us but not bothered if not. kudos to lambert, don't wish any ill. Hes had to sacrifice bent to beat us though quite an expensive victory.
Right, so why this with-hunt then? At the end of the day Shay Given was really terrible, I was amazed at just how often he sliced goal-kicks and had his clearances charged down and so on, but because we didn't punish his mistakes he will not get slated. If you really are looking for somebody to blame the attackers could be at fault for not finishing our chances, the midfield for not getting tight enough on Villa and the defence for the nature of goals conceded. So in short everyone apart from Mark Bunn, who was excellent. Personally, I would rather say fair play to Villa and let's try and respond against Wigan on Saturday.
